“We took a gamble...glad we did!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

Our family stayed in duplex cottage #4 for the last 3 nights. We were a little unsure of staying here based on past reviews, but it had all the ammenities that we wanted. We were pleasantly surprised. Check in was no problem and the staff gave us suggestions on when to float, where to swim, what to see, etc. Upon entry to the cottage, we noticed how clean it was! There was a bedroom with a queen bed, two full size beds in the main living area and a futon. The kitchen had a full size refrigerator, stove/oven, sink, dishes, silverware, and cookware. There was a toaster, microwave, and coffee maker (filters, salt and pepper were provided). We had a picnic table, gas grill, and small fire pit perfect for making S'Mores.
Canoed the Current River the next day; they picked us up at our cottage and dropped us off after. This couldn't have been easier!
The next day we went zip lining at Eagle Falls....the kids had a total blast! The morning we left, we went horseback riding at Coldwater Ranch. It was very hot but very enjoyable.

“Luxury in the woods!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

We stayed in cottage 30 and had an amazing weekend. The place was extremely clean - the view was great - both King size beds were clean, fresh and comfortable. The TV was small and outdated and that is the ONLY complaint. The hot tub was well maintained and made the evenings in a lot of fun after driving around all day. The owners were great and very nice and accomadating. Fire place, vaulted ceilings, full kitchen, movie selection, deck with gas grill, nice comfy shower... I cannot understand how anyone would NOT have a great time here!!

“A great family vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2009

Eminence Canoes, Cottages, and Campground was a great family vacation. Our family of 4 stayed in cottage #3, a simple 2 bedroom cottage with a small kitchen and living area. The cottage was very clean, the beds were comfortable, the appliances all worked, including a gas grill, and the A/C worked great which was a plus since the weather was in the upper 90s. The cottage did have a certain "cottage" smell to it, but it was nothing unbearable--this is coming from someone who is pregnant. The owners, Cami and Dick, were incredibly hospitable, as well as their staff. They provide everything you need for canoeing and tubing. There were many great sites to see in the area including Round Springs and Cave (we saw wild horses there!), Licks Log walking Trail, Rocky Falls, and places to fish along the river bank, including many other sites. They provide literature with all the sites to see in the area. Eminence and the area is incredibly beautiful to explore. They also have free movie rentals with many many selections to choose from (a small children's section however). There is also a great pizza restaurant in Eminence called "Hideaway Pizza" that sells Chicago style stuffed pizza. It was delicious!

Eminence Canoes, Cottages, and Campground provided the perfect place for our family to vacation together. It was an affordable vacation. We had to pay for the gas in our car and rental fee for the cottage. We had received one free canoe rental, and the tubes were free while we were there. We cooked all of our own meals except one. And all of the site seeing and exploring was free. Our 2 small children had a great time. We would definitely go back, however we would probably choose a time of year that was not quite so hot and humid. And the drive there is on very curvy roads, so if you get motion sickness, be prepared for the drive.

“VERY disappointing, ruined a yearly family vacation”

My mom secured the reservations for this little gem. What was supposed to be one of Eminence's best "cabins." That cabin turned out to be a trailer, trailer #9 to be exact. We're far from rich people to begin with but we certainly wouldn't consider staying in a trailer on our vacation a good time. What makes this bad is that we weren't made aware of our "cabin" before we arrived. Never mind that it was indeed a trailer, but that the dishes were dirty when we arrived, the doorknobs barely turn, one side of the shower door is tied and GLUED, supposedly for OUR safety. There's zero water pressure in the shower and you'll end up fixing the toilet after almost every flush. The TV has a major glitches and is very tiny. The furniture is horribly uncomfortable. There is some kind of plastic padding on one of the queen beds and I have serious doubts the sheets in that place had been changed in a very long time. God be with you should you decide to sleep in the futon in living room. The air conditioner has the problem of shutting off during the night so that you wake up in a sweat, and that's after you've adjusted the thermostat in preparation for that event. Someone in the office told my mom the river was 2 minute walk from our "cabin", but it's more like ten minutes. They DON'T give refunds, and now I know why. It's because this place sucked. There's nothing but tubing or canoeing in the whole town so if you find your facilities as horrible as we did then don't expect the town to entertain you. For a tourist town there was a shockingly limited (as in zero) amount of tourist activities anywhere around. Trust me this is a major ripoff. When we brought up all of this as we left this morning, and that was a whole TWO days early because the trip sucked so much, they had the nerve to tell us they offered a 360 degree view of our "cabin"/trailer on their website. Major lie. If it's there you can't find it. Don't waste your money or vacation time here. Go to the White Buffalo in Arkansas. It's not far from the Eminence hell-hole and it's a much better establishment.

“Friendly People and Awesome Cabin!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2008

My family and another family of 4 went to Eminence in search of peace and quiet and some good quality family time. We found just that. We stayed in the newer cabin they call the lodge and it was beautiful. This is a log cabin with a nice big deck where we ate our meals. The deck is low to the ground so it was a great place for our young travelers to play. There were two bedrooms with comfortable king size beds and a sleeping loft which the kids absolutely loved. Everything you need is at the cabin. They have a towel exchange every day and they come and get your trash. There is a gas grill outside and fire ring. I almost forgot, there is also a hot tub!!!!! The area is beautiful. We did not float because we had young kids with us, but the resort can organize all of this for you. The staff at the resort gave us tips on what to do with young kids and they were right. Rocky Falls was an awesome sight. I would definately suggest visiting Rocky Falls if you go to Eminence. This is a rock formation "shut-in" with a lovely swimming hole at the bottom. Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!
