“You can do better than this.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2011

We stayed in the cabins here twice, coming with a group each time. The cabins are dreary but functional, with the only attractive cabin a recently built log cabin. The remaining cabins are not very appealing and not very comfortable, but will do in a pinch. But I think you can do better, and I don't plan on returning here.

The owners are fairly inflexible and uncooperative, and don't always represent their facilities accurately. Our friends, who were camping, were told that there was a central place where people could sit with others, watch TV, etc. There is no such place, and our friends felt misled.

There are many places to stay in Eminence, and I do not intend to return here.

Room Tip: If you do stay here, rent the log cabin.

“Go anywhere else unless you want to get ripped off!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

Can pictures ever be deceiving! I booked this trip for me and my family. Thinking it would be a great time and memory, and was I ever wrong! We stayed in what was called a "cottage", but was actually a stinky, built in the 70's and never updated duplex. Dark paneling, a loud window air conditioner unit, a broken range, all the drawers in the kitchen broken, and a dirty shower. The room had 3 double beds and a futon and the room rates incude 2 people only. With an upcharge of $20.00 per person, this made our room cost about $200.00 per night. This room was not even worth it! We were not aware of the dog policy either, and after being there for less than a day, the owner found out and told us to leave immediately. We were extremely apologetic and told her we would leave. We were packing up when she came into our duplex, demanded the key, made a scene in front of my kids (for the 2nd time) and handed me a bill she had already run on my Visa card (that I made the reservation with) for almost $800.00!!!!! Even though, we were leaving then, she charged me for another night, another $80.00 in extra guests fee (for towels that were never provided anyway), and $300.00 for a dog fine. Don't let the sweet southern accent fool you. Once you give her your credit card number, you are at her mercy and she shows her true sneaky colors. I cancelled my credit card so she can't do anymore damage. I will never go back.

“We took a gamble...glad we did!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

Our family stayed in duplex cottage #4 for the last 3 nights. We were a little unsure of staying here based on past reviews, but it had all the ammenities that we wanted. We were pleasantly surprised. Check in was no problem and the staff gave us suggestions on when to float, where to swim, what to see, etc. Upon entry to the cottage, we noticed how clean it was! There was a bedroom with a queen bed, two full size beds in the main living area and a futon. The kitchen had a full size refrigerator, stove/oven, sink, dishes, silverware, and cookware. There was a toaster, microwave, and coffee maker (filters, salt and pepper were provided). We had a picnic table, gas grill, and small fire pit perfect for making S'Mores.
Canoed the Current River the next day; they picked us up at our cottage and dropped us off after. This couldn't have been easier!
The next day we went zip lining at Eagle Falls....the kids had a total blast! The morning we left, we went horseback riding at Coldwater Ranch. It was very hot but very enjoyable.

“Luxury in the woods!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

We stayed in cottage 30 and had an amazing weekend. The place was extremely clean - the view was great - both King size beds were clean, fresh and comfortable. The TV was small and outdated and that is the ONLY complaint. The hot tub was well maintained and made the evenings in a lot of fun after driving around all day. The owners were great and very nice and accomadating. Fire place, vaulted ceilings, full kitchen, movie selection, deck with gas grill, nice comfy shower... I cannot understand how anyone would NOT have a great time here!!

“A great family vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2009

Eminence Canoes, Cottages, and Campground was a great family vacation. Our family of 4 stayed in cottage #3, a simple 2 bedroom cottage with a small kitchen and living area. The cottage was very clean, the beds were comfortable, the appliances all worked, including a gas grill, and the A/C worked great which was a plus since the weather was in the upper 90s. The cottage did have a certain "cottage" smell to it, but it was nothing unbearable--this is coming from someone who is pregnant. The owners, Cami and Dick, were incredibly hospitable, as well as their staff. They provide everything you need for canoeing and tubing. There were many great sites to see in the area including Round Springs and Cave (we saw wild horses there!), Licks Log walking Trail, Rocky Falls, and places to fish along the river bank, including many other sites. They provide literature with all the sites to see in the area. Eminence and the area is incredibly beautiful to explore. They also have free movie rentals with many many selections to choose from (a small children's section however). There is also a great pizza restaurant in Eminence called "Hideaway Pizza" that sells Chicago style stuffed pizza. It was delicious!

Eminence Canoes, Cottages, and Campground provided the perfect place for our family to vacation together. It was an affordable vacation. We had to pay for the gas in our car and rental fee for the cottage. We had received one free canoe rental, and the tubes were free while we were there. We cooked all of our own meals except one. And all of the site seeing and exploring was free. Our 2 small children had a great time. We would definitely go back, however we would probably choose a time of year that was not quite so hot and humid. And the drive there is on very curvy roads, so if you get motion sickness, be prepared for the drive.
