“A charming hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

The word to describe this inn is quaint. It is in a great area with tons of restaurants and shopping withing walking distance, and the Galleria is a 5-minute drive away. The hotel staff was very good. The room we had was really cute and quite large. The only complaint I have is that we were charged $17 per night to have our car parked in a lot across the street. On the other hand, there isn't really any street parking available. I would go back there any time.

Room Tip: There are no elevators, so if you would need one it would be best to stay on the first floor.

“Great customer service, poor housekeeping”

Concierge staff fabulous. Room one no heat and cold shower. Moved to new room. Dirty pillows, dried mouthwash on sink and pubic hairs in toilet. Moved to third room. They gave us a King suite, champagne and cheese. Very helpful in moving us to new room. But three rooms was very very inconvenient. They have great location and parking is excellent. Great night life and.there is a great pub attached. Excellent customer service location and .parking made it so stay was not a total bust

Thank you for taking time to post your review.

We are disappointed that you did not have a wonderful stay. Its always nice to hear that we were able to accommodate you and that the staff was wonderful but your issues with housekeeping is definitely disappointing and very upsetting to hear.

We will take steps and focus on the housekeeping aspect and ensure this does not happen to our future guests and we hope that you will provide us the opportunity to show you that we do listen and take our customers comments and reviews very seriously and address all items immediately.

Again we apologize for the housekeeping issues and sincerely thank you for being patient and understanding during our relocations.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Warm regards,
Stacey Wallace

“Good Choice for Clayton and Surrounding Areas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

I have stayed here several times over the past several years and love the location and staff. Seven Gables is a good choice if you enjoy a Small boutique hotel with a bit of a B&B feel. The down side is that it is in need of a coat of paint, new carpets and some minor repairs...I also find it irritating to pay for parking in the lot across the street because there is no other choice. The Irish pub located in the hotel was a great place to have a pub dinner or a glass of wine. There are also lots of dinning choices within walking distance. I like the large room on the second floor that overlooks the courtyard. I will definitely stay again when in St. Louis because all of the positives outway the negatives...I just wish the hotel would do a little bit of work....

Room Tip: I like the rooms that overlook the Courtyard

“Nice Small Hotel in Clayton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

I travel frequently to Clayton and have never stayed here. I tried it this week and its definitely a keeper. Its pretty small - about 25 rooms. I wouldn't call it dated, but its more like staying in someone's home. Carpeted small stairway to rooms on the second and third floor. The room was ample in size and furnished with the type of furniture you would find in a house. Nice touch in the bathroom - free bottled water and a full complement of toiletries including mouthwash. Also has free wi-fi. The water and wi-fi I usually have to pay for in chain hotels. Also has a nice Irish type pub. The location is excellent - in the middle of Clayton and within walking distance of many business, restaurants and the court complex.

As another review said, great courtyard for outdoor drinks and dinner

“It's Not A Chain Hotel and for the most part that's a good thing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

I needed a place to stay during the recent World Series. I had Game 6 tickets and all the brand names hotels within a reasonable distance of Busch Stadium were either full or upcharging prices. The Seven Gables Inn is a very comfortable Inn that you'd more likely expect to find in New England. Rooms are comfortable but ask for the executive size room. Despite age of building, rooms are quiet. There is a bar/restaurant/pub off the main entrance and breakfast is included. The staff is helpful and friendly but not overbearing nor do they have their hand out every five minutes. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms have appropriate amenities. You step outside into Clayton a modern, skyscraper filled city but inside this Inn it feels decidely Dickensonian. Prices are reasonable, generally below upscale chain prices.

Room Tip: Pick a courtyard room and ask for executive size room. However if staying by yourself, size of room...
