“Simple and cheap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2011

Good for a hotel you need in hurry and something inexpensive. Have flown in and out of St Louis several times on business and couldn't pass on the bargain. Last time I stayed it was a Ramada hotel, now they're calling it STL Hotel. To me it all looks the same, yet it's still a fraction the price of other places I've stayed nearby.

Room Tip: Any problems ask for manager - very helpful

“Don't bother!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2011

My wife and I were told that there were shuttles to and from the airport when we booked but when we arrived and called we were told that the shuttle was broken and would have to take a cab from the airport. We got there and it appeared ok in the lobby but all the rooms are around back and it looks like somewhere one would go to get drugs or take a hooker. The cable was out and the only channels we did have were porn. The paint in the tub was half peeled and pieces were flaking off. We called the front desk to request a cab and were told that it was not their responsibility and we needed to do it ourselves. I mean seriously, they advertise a shuttle and would not even call a cab for us. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

“Could not believe this hotel was a Ramada”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

This was the worse Hotel my family has ever stayed in ever. We booked it online because it was affordable and close to the STL airport. I called the hotel ahead of time to let them know we would be arriving late after midnight on the day we were arrving there. We got in at 1:00a.m immediatly noticing it was not in the best of locations. We went to check in and the clerk behind the counter stated she thought they were out of rooms. ( I had called earlier to confirm) she then went down the hall to check a room for a long time. While she was gone we noticed a letter posted at the front desk apologizing for no television service at this time. She came back and stated that she found us a room and handed us three towels and said the room was just missing towels. As we walked down the hall we could see the hotel was dirty with holes in the walls. We opened the room door and could immediately smell the oder and the first thing we noticed was the beds had hair on them and could tell the clerk had just run down the hall and made them. My husband looked in the bathroom and saw feces and throw up in the toilet. He picked up the phone to call the front desk. The phone had been torn out of the wall with no cord. We walked back down the hall and told the clerk about the condition of the room. She then took forever to look in the computer to find us another room. The room was on the fourth floor and there was no working elevator. It was 1:30am when we got to the second room only to discover it only had one bed. The room again was dirty. The phone was pulled out of the wall. The toilet had urine on the toilet seat. We were so upset but at that time we had to get up and be at the airport by 6:30 am. I plan to write a letter to Ramada and encourage them to tour this hotel. I strongly believe they would never want their name carried by this hotel.

“Even if they offer a free stay....Run the other way”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2011

This is one of the worst properties I’ve ever stayed at. I booked it last minute on a discount site that I typically have good success with judging by the amenities....boy was I wrong this time. It is a huge property that has undergone several chain owners. This things should have been torn down 4 years ago. This hotel was so bad, I’m not sure to start. The guy at check-in was a transplant from another property, he placed us in 3 rooms, before He got it right, and even then it wasn’t right. The halls smelled like the flood of 93’ had ripped through there, and the upkeep was so bad, I could see how many would have been frightened to stay there...but it was late, we had an early flight out, and it was close to shuttle out to the airport. I was almost afraid to leave my vehicle there, but I hadn’t made other provisions, so I placed it in a highly visible area. The best part about that hotel was knowing that I would never stay there again. It was not worth the $50 I paid, or the $50 buck I saved in airport parking to stay there.

“WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2011

Not even sure where to start.

I was in town to see a hockey game, but even though I was fine when I awoke that morning, I arrived in town sick, feverish with chills and in bad need of a bed, So of course I called the front desk hoping that in an exceptional case like this they could find a way to accomodate an early check-in. I was immediately and without hesitation told no by the person at the front desk.

And this was only the beginning. The staff at this hell-hole were absolutely incompetent and rude to boot. They were not helpful in any way whatsoever.

After I was refused any possibility of an early check in, I was so sick that I laid in the backseat of my rental car for an hour waiting for check in time. When I finally did get to check in, I was given a key for a room which was already occupied. When I opened the door and went into the room there was a man already in the bed. Clearly I had been given a room that was already taken. So I had to quickly apologize, then turn around and lug all my bags back to the front desk where I was given a key to another room. This time when I arrived at my new room, the key didn't work.

By this time I was sweating profusely and felt nauseous and completely unable to walk my bags back down to the front desk yet again, so I called down to the desk, explained the situation with the key and reminded them of the fact that I was extremely sick and feeling too weak by then to make another trek downstairs. After so completely screwing up the check-in process twice, I kinda felt like they owed me at least some small, token gesture of good will or customer service, so I asked the woman at the desk if she could send someone up with a key. Her simple, one-word response? No.

By this time I was in a cold sweat, sitting in the hallway, shvering with chills, and It was only because I spotted one of the housekeepers down the hall who had a pass key that I was able to get into the room.

After finally getting a few hours of bed rest and starting to feel slightly better, I went to take a nice hot shower only to find that the shower head in the room didnt work. Worse yet, when I tried to take a bath instead, I found that the cold water knob had been bashed in and so the only water for bathing was scalding hot. To compound that, the drainstop in the tub didnt work, so I had to jam washcloths into it to kinda, sorta at least slow it down a little.

And finally, as I had a very early flight out the next morning, I was very groggy when I departed and so I left my phone charger plugged into the wall. I realised this as soon as I got to the airport and called the hotel where my good friend at the desk informed me that they would gladly hold onto it until the "next time you can come by to pick it up." I offered to let them bill me for the postage, but her only response was that for such a complex request as that I would have to speak with the manager and he wouldn't be back until Monday.

Really, these people were completely unfit for their jobs. Not only is the place pretty much a dump, but the people who work there have no customer service skills whatsoever. Granted, leaving my phone charger in the room is my fault, but in my past travel experiences there was one other time when I left a personal article in a room. It was at the Hilton in Detroit and they fed-ex'd the item to me the next day at no charge. In this case I even offered to pay postage, but still all I got was a "no" and a "talk to the manager". I plan to call him tomorrow, but nothing in my experience with this dumpster-fire of a hotel gives me any reason to believe that will turn out well either.

I have never experienced such miserable customer service at any business anywhere in my life. Their standard response to every request, no matter how simple, in this case to a traveller who was clearly in distress wasto just say "no". In fact the one thing they seem really, really good at is saying "no". If I could give this place a negative twenty star rating that is still not be low enough. Negative times infinity might not even be quite low enough.

A total crap-hole run by rude, incompetent people. Avoid it.
