My wife and I recently did a "Time Share" trip to Branson. The motel they put us in was the Howard Johnson's. Even though this is an older motel chain, the literature said that this motel had recently been refurbished. So I thought "Okay, we'll do it." If you know anything at all about Branson MO you know that it has very steep hills. Well, this motel is on the side of a mountain. The front desk is on the top and our room was below at a 50 degree plus decline. STEEP STEEP (Check in was after 3 p.m.) We checked in around 4 p.m. and found that they were still cleaning our room. We finally got into our room around 4:30 p.m. The room was clean and nice. The mattresses were very soft. I went to get ice and found out that the only ice machine was up the hill at the front desk. BUMMER. They said that we could get ice there.
In the morning we went to take a shower and the adjustment handle came off while I was in the shower. We also found ants swarming in the bathroom sink.
We went to the front desk building for the free contential breakfast. It was good but boiled eggs instead of scrambled eggs. White gravy and biscuits, coffee, hot choclate, organge or apple juice, milk, three different cereals, donuts, and hot waffels (sp) with syrup. The lady in charge of the breakfast area is very nice and friendly.
When we were leaving, I heard someone tell the front desk people that their phone was still not working and that they had reported it two days ago. I also found out that the maintance people are spread pretty thin because they also work at the Day's Inn.
Bottom line: personnel are nice and friendly but there is a limit to what they can do. Rooms are clean and quiet. If something is broke, it is not going to get fixed.
Room Tip: Go somewhere else if you have a choice.

Thank you for your comments and for choosing our hotel during your visit to Branson. We have repaired the ice machines in each building. We understand the inclines here in Branson are very steep and will always be happy to shuttle guests on our golf carts.
We continue to work on maintanence issues as quickly as possible when they are reported. We are happy you found your room to be clean and quiet. I have relayed your comments to our maintenance supervisor and your comments to Jean in the breakfast room.
We hope you will visit us again for any future stays in Branson.
