We enjoyed the lovely restoration showing off the great "bones" of the bldg (the old) and the clean lines of the modern furnishings in the room (the new). From the time we walked in the door we felt the warm and cozy atmosphere. Note, this is not a cookie cutter chain hotel with carpeting and cheap furniture everywhere. Also, old bldgs have quirks but that is part of their charm.

Having a creative restaurant and bar on the premises was great (reviewed separately). After dinner and drinks being able to walk (no driving) to your room was an added bonus.

We stayed a couple of nts (Oct 2010) while biking the Katy Trail. Plus, the Fred offers indoor secured bike storage.

If you like old restored hotels, this is a great one. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting friends here for a visit. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed. There is a nice place to taste local wines a couple of blocks south. The prices at the hotel are moderate. The staff was very accommodating.

Great stay, great staff, great everything. Will definitely be back!

This hotel was built in the early 1900's and has been recently restored, staying true to the times. It has a great restaurant and is a great place to stay if you are biking on the KATY trail. It can accomodate larger groups. We have stayed here twice with groups of 20+.
