My friend and I stayed at The Quality Inn in Southaven for four days during January 2012 as we had business in Memphis. We originally wanted to stay in a hotel close to the Graceland area but heard that area was very unsafe. We then found The Quality Inn in Southaven which about only a seven minute drive to the Graceland area and before our stay we couldn't find any bad reviews on it. Southaven is a lot nicer and safer then seven minutes down the road in Whitehaven Memphis.
We drove up to find the parking lot very well lit and the lobby to be very spacious and nice for an Inn. Check in went very fast and good, and our guest room was upgraded to a room with a sofa when we originally only booked a room with a king bed. The lady at the front desk was friendly and actually asked us about our trip and the next morning the cleaning lady was also very friendly when we asked her for some directions.
We found our room to be very large and very clean on our arrival. The room was actually larger than other motels I've stayed at. Our guest room was number 225 and it contained the following: one nice wing-backed chair, black medium sized sofa with small wood coffee table, a king bed with a black headboard with very nicer dressings, a large mirror with table, a 32 inch flat screen tv sitting on top a dresser with four deep sized drawers, a hair dryer, coffee pot with the stuff, and a separate shower/toilet area from the sink area. The sink top area was brown marble and had plenty of room for our things like makeup and jewelry as we are women. Our room was a smoking room as we requested and even for a smoking room our room did not smell at all, and smelt very nice and fresh. The shower/toilet area is small and tight on space but the shower curtain is a round one which makes the area have more breathing room. The bathroom was clean from your normal eye glance, but with a closer look I found some dust in the corners but that was fine with us as everything else in the room was very clean. The king bed was very firm but comfortable for us. There were only two things that we personally did not like and the first was the pillows, as the pillows were very small as almost like a half size, but the pillows were comfortable. My second thing I personally did not like was that the AC unit was a nice wall unit but was controlled from a box on the wall. Here are somethings I really liked about the room: electrical outlets in the lamp for phones or iPods, sheets were very soft, and the furniture was a nice sleek black color.
If you are a tough sleeper or someone who is easily awake by noise then The Quality Inn Southave is not for you, as each night we heard airplanes and traffic on the nearby interstate. But the noise at night did not both us at all!
The Quality Inn offered a free Breakfast as a paying guest and we had their breakfast two mornings. For Breakfast they had hard boiled eggs, mini sausage links, country biscuits and gravy, wide selection of fruits, and two types of muffins, and coffee & orange juice for drinks. Our second morning we walked in about 15 minutes after the Breakfast ended at 9am and they still let us eat breakfast, very nice of them.
Over all we had a very wonderful stay at The Quality Inn Southaven and for only $65 a night we felt like queens and we will definitively be back again for our next Memphis trip!!
