We chose this hotel after looking at many reviews for the area around Southaven, MS and Horn Lake. There are quite a few hotels in the area, but the prices I kept finding were high for the types of chains in most cases. This hotel honored our AAA discount. We were looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay at a good price for just one night. The reviews on here had already helped me decide to stay there before we started our trip. As someone else said, the rooms look just like the photos and seem to have been redone not too long ago. (Actually, the rooms look almost better in person!) Our's was on the 2nd floor, was clean and everything worked as it should. We had a small frig and I think there was also a microwave. There were plenty of pillows on each bed and the mattresses were comfortable. It was around 9:45 p.m. when we checked in, and the parking lot looked pretty full but we just happened to luck out and find a place right at the bottom of the stairs near our room.

The bonus at this place was the free breakfast. There was a lady making waffles to order, bacon (!), biscuits and gravy, cereal, OJ, coffee, tea and a few other things. (She had admonished my husband before I came in telling him to use tongs when picking up a biscuit and not his fingers - lol!) I commented to the lady making the food and overseeing the breakfast area that I had seen good reviews on T/A about the hotel. She didn't seem to know anything about this site or what it was, but asked in a joking way, "Did they mention me or show my picture?", and laughed. I felt she was quite a character - in a good way.

The hotel can be a bit tricky to find as it is set about 2 blocks off a main artery after you exit I-55, so you don't see it right away. There were about 2 motels right by it, though. We would definitely stay there again. I am rating this hotel based on what one might expect in this area and in this price range. Considering those things, it's very good to excellent, even though in another location I might expect more luxury, etc. w/such a rating.

Of all the places I stayed while on vaction, this was by far the nicest and most comfortable. The beds are comfortable and the flat pannel TV was as nice as I have at home. The bathroom was roomy & the shower felt great. The towels are soft and had a fresh smell. They had a desk with a computer chair which made it comfotable to use my laptop computer and Wfi internet connection was fast. I would stay there again.

The first room we were given smelled moldy and there was mold in the refrigerator. We complained to the management about the condition of the room and they quickly reassigned us to a different room. We moved to that room, which was on the other side of the hotel. After moving in, my wife went to use the toiltet and it would not flush. She called the front desk. They promptly sent down the maintenance man who did not want to hear anything about the toilet not flushing. My wife attempted to show the maintainence man what the problem was, when he became very rude with her. After the maintenance man left, my wife turned the bed down only to find sheets with burn holes in them. We called the front desk to complain again and the manager deducted $20 from our bill and apologied for the hassle.

Whenever we travel through the Southaven area we pick this Quality Inn as our first choice and it has never disappointed. With easy access to and from the Interstate, plenty of food and service spots nearby, and good prices; we prefer this property over a cluster of other motels in the immediate area. Like most motels in this category they feature free breakfast buffet items, but what makes this property special is the abundance of eating space and not the typical congested slip of space reserved for breakfast guests. On our last visit we were delighted to see that the owners invested in considerable updating of the rooms and common areas. All in all we think this Quality Inn is a solid value.
