They may be under new management, but things have gotten even worse since the earlier reviews. The hotel is still filthy, but, as a added twist, the new management team is dishonest. They tried the old bait & switch, quoting us one rate before we arrived, and then trying to jack up the rate when they knew all of the other hotels in town were full and there was virtually nowhere else to stay. We went to visit our daughter for Parents' Weekend at Ole Miss. We had reservations in the neighboring town of Batesville, but when a friend whose daughter also attends the school had to cancel at the last minute, she offered us her reservation. As it was 25 miles closer that the hotel where we had reservations, we jumped at the chance. We even called to confirm the rate. But when we checked out they had tried to charge us nearly double. I would normally choke this up to a one time error, but when the manager was out of earshot, the hotel employee who was standing there told me this bait & switch is a common practice at the hotel and I was not the first one they tried to burn. I have been battling with them ever since. I've stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels throughout the U.S. and Europe (unfortunately there aren't any in Oxford, MS), so I don't mind paying a premium for a good hotel room, but I have never had a hotel try to charge me something other than the rate I was quoted. Not only are this hotel's business practices shady, its accommodations are far from desirable. Other travelers comments like "bring your own sheets," should be heeded. I might also recommend a blindfold.
