“Nasty!!!”

We PCS to Pascagoula and was looking for homes in the Ocean Springs area and decided to stay at a reasonable priiced hotel so we picked Howard Johnson. We knew we should of spent the extra bucks staying at another hotel when we walked into our room and it looked like the place has not been cleaned in ages. One of the mattress was sunking in and it was had a really grimmy feeling. The bathroom is a joke, it was smaller than a closest and there was only a shower. There was stains on the carpet. The place is gross and I would not reccommend it to my worst enemy. There is better hotels out here and this only stay there if it's your last resort. I felt bad for having my family spend the night there. We woke up and left really early the next day.

at first looked nice, did the reservation on priceline, maybe thats why the room we were given was dirty...carpet was awful, counters sticky, bedding tired and had some stains, walls were scuffed up and marked up...bathroom was clean, however...will not return to this hotel...

We apologized for the inconvenience that you had. We completely renovated our property and reopened in April 2011. Carper replaced all over, new furniture, and also new paint. Hopefully you will give us another chance when you are in the area. Thank you for your business.

“Ok for one night if you pay less than $40 for it"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

Got this hotel on Priceline's half off, don't tell you till after you win gimmick. Then I read the reviews, which were horrible. I called the hotel to ask about the condition and was told, "Those people were just picky." When we got there, on the outside, it looked fine. Small pool, but clean, very small breakfast area. Check in was fast. Got to room and there was a horrible mold smell in hall, but room was ok. Carpetting and chairs were horribly stained, one of them had something wet under the arm. Eww. No safe key. Internet wouldn't work. Very thin towels. Bed looked like new spread, pillows and sheet were fine. Small room. When I asked for the safe key to that room, they couldn't find it, so they moved us to another room. This one had a sink with 100s of cracks in it, and the sinks apron was cracked, too. The remote wouldn't work, but the internet did. I asked the desk about the remote, was told steps to fix it, no offer to help. A/C units have one speed, very cold. Shower only in rooms, no hair conditioner. There is a refrigerator and microwave in room. The refrigerator only freezes food. The breakfast consisted of stale bread, english muffins, old oatmeal, apples, lttle chocolate chip muffins. There was coffee and juices, but I had to move the large coffee urn from the brewing space, because the hotel staff, just 10 feet away were busy - doing nothing. Hotel was quiet during our stay. There are many other choices right across the street and next to this hotel. Don't pay more than $40 for this, as there are other options right at that point all over.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2009

This was terrible. Where do I begin. The room was the size of a closet. There was not enough room for 1 person to walk around let alone 2! The chair and desk in the room was broken. We were scared to sit or put anything on the desk. They was no closet. The space designated for a closet had a fridge and microwave so there was no where to keep your clothes other than your suitcase. The door to the room would not shut all the way. You had to basically lay on it to make it close. The bathroom was ridiculous. I expected to see roaches running out of the holes in the walls. We left the next morning and styed at another hotel for half the price and with twice the amount of comfortable. Oh and the room smelled awful. Like an old musty smell. It was a terrible experience. Only good thing is that after I complained, they refunded some of my money back. Even they knew it was not worth the cost.

“naaasty!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2008

This place needs an inspection by the parent company. Room 228 smelled like a wet dog and cigarette mix. It looked as if it had not been cleaned since the building was new. Trash under closet space and beside the bed. What looked like toenail clippings on the air conditioner. I paid $114.60 for this night, never again.........

  • Liked — great air conditioner
  • Disliked — nasty
