While traveling on business, we were economicly forced to stay at the Roadway Inn, Laurel. What a curse. There is a reason that Choice Hotels have no pictures of this property on there web site. It is a worn out dump.
First, some negative observations...
- Rooms had several worn out and mismatched pieces of furniture. My room had a desk and table with only one heavly used, stained chair. I think they furnish the rooms with items from closed hotels.
-Dirty!!! Lots of mold in the bathroom. Layers of dust on fixtures. Cigarette burns on most of the bedding. Smelly bath towel. Items in the room that were once white are brown from years and years of smoking (i.e. wallplates for light switches and electricity outlets). Roaches crawling at night so I slept with the lights on.
-I've never stayed in a hotel room with graffiti on the wall. Why in the world would they have rented this room without painting over it? (see photo)
I felt very dirty just being in this room. The next day was not plesant at work.
The positives:
-The price. It's probably the cheapest in town (for a reason).
-Friendly staff. However, not the most trustworthy. When I asked if the rooms were "torn up," I was told "not really"
-Breakfast. Fresh donuts, waffles, cereal. (I would have given up the breakfast for a clean room)
Overall, stay away. I will never stay here again. Its worth paying a little more for other hotels in the area.
