I never write reviews, even of the places that I have loved. I hope that tells you how much I LOATHED this place. I'm starting to think that La Quinta is universally an unreliable brand. Here's how our stay went.
We pulled up to an old and worn hotel with exterior doors. The woman behind the counter was clearly annoyed as she dealt with the (admittedly surly) customer in front of me. That exchange took quite some time and a line of several newcomers queued up behind me. We just had to wait, because although it wasn't very late in the evening, she was the only staff member on hand...
Except for the courtesy officer who was sitting in the darkened dining room watching a movie with very loud volume and curse words in every other sentence.
We finally got to our room and found it extremely "fragrant." My sister and I came to the conclusion that someone had used a very strong cologne-type cleaner in order to give the impression that the room had, in fact, been cleaned. I literally had to leave the door open for thirty minutes to air the room out. I might have left it open for longer if not for the...
ROACHES. On the slim chance that there weren't any already in our room, we decided to try and keep it that way.
We had been on the road for 12 hours that day- myself, my sister and her 9-month old baby. As expected, we needed to use the facilities. Too bad for us that they were completely disgusting. There was literally urine all over the toilet seat that looked like it had been there for days.
I called down to the front desk and had to wait an hour for the same front desk clerk to become available to come and clean it up. I understand that she was the only one there, so I don't begrudge her the time it took, but it's ridiculous that we even had to ask for such a thing. And she agreed with us. She literally said, "You were right! That was downright filthy!!"
I won't even mention the condition of the towels and sheets. I'm not ashamed to tell you that we didn't even bathe there. We just got up and hurried the rest of the 7 hours home to decontaminate ourselves in the comfort of our own clean showers.
