Awful. The service was awful, the room was awful, everything was awful. Our room had a roach in the bed, the bathtub/shower had some kind of mold growing in it, the bathroom door looked like someone had taken a knife and slashed it, the front door would close all the way, but it didn't really tocuh the floor, so there was a draft, AND breakfast consisted of an open carton of milk and cereal. AWFUL. We took pictures, but deleted them in an attempt to forget about the hotel. It was such a bad experience that we won't soon forget it.

My husband, myself, and our grown son were traveling through Jackson and stopped at this motel around midnight. We asked for a room with 2 beds, and when we got to the room, there was only one bed, so it was back to the front desk. After switching rooms, we couldn't get our key to work in the door of the new room. The clerk finally got the door open for us. The first thing we noticed was that it was freezing cold in the room and the heater did not work, wouldn't come on at all. Then we saw that the television was missing. Enough of playing musical rooms, we got our money back and went to another motel. What a nightmare! Do not put yourself through it.

We were traveling (2 adults 2 kids) and only needed a decent place to sleep for the night. That's why I wasn't looking for a too 'fancy' hotel and the Motel 8 looked the part and had OK reviews online.
When we first got there it wasn't too bad, but if we would have not checked in and were dead tired we would have left ASAP !!!!
The room looked fine and clean at first, but over time we found all kinds of (small) problems.
ROOM
Asked for non-smoking room, room smelled like smoke
TV - half of the channels were very bad reception and the TV remote didn't work.
Stains - on chair and floor
Chair was unstable and needs repair
Bathroom - toilet paper holder was ripped out of the wall
Mattress was old
HOTEL OUTSIDE AND AREA
Besides us and a crew of construction workers, the motel looked fairly empty and we were still given the room right below them at the very end of the building (kinda noisy and unsecured location)
Now comes my scare factor ! Right next to the Motel was another (really bad) motel and after we grabbed a bite to eat at the Wendy's 2 buildings down, I saw what must have been 2 Undercover Cops putting on bullet-proof vests to raid the joint next door !!!!!!
Needless to say, I hardly slept that night !!!
Finally BREAKFAST
Breakfast times were 6-9 AM ... we got there at 8 and had a hard time finding ANYTHING to eat.
Obviously the Construction Crew had beat us to breakfast, because most of the food was gone and the breakfast room floor was covered in mud.
(just let me say real quick, this is NOTHING against the Workers, but against the hotel staff that didn't fill up the food and clean up the breakfast area !!!)
So, the whole room (floor and tables) were nasty.
From the Danish were 2 1/2 left
NO Milk for the cereal
NO spoons to eat the cereal
All fruit, besides 1 apple, was gone
The cereal spilled all over the counter
All in all, for the 4 of us there really wasn't a whole lot of foot to choose or eat.
We went up to the front desk to ask for milk etc. and after the hotel staff finally came into the breakfast area he SAW that the place was all dirty and pretty much all the food was gone and DID NOT refill ANYTHING nor clean up !!!!!
At this point my husband was so "ticked off" that he took his coffee and went to the room. The kids and I grabbed the last Danish and ate the cereal with forks !

Final Though ... I rather sleep in my car, then go back there ! If you are a single man just need a bed to sleep for the night - fine, but do not take your family there !!!
Sorry - NEVER AGAIN !

I understand that you get what you pay for, BUT this joint was a joke !
Next time I will make sure I'll pay the extra 20 bucks to stay at a place where I get something to eat, that's clean and I can sleep without fearing about drug busts next door !!!

The front of this Super 8 looked "normal", but the room we were given in the rear of it was a different matter. As we unloaded our luggage, the rear parking lot had disabled vehicles parked, and women just lolling around the parking lot. There were a couple of pick-up trucks parked, and one woman was even lying in the bed of it. We felt like we were at a rent-by-the-hour no-tell motel. It's possible these people were Hurricane Katrina victims but that didn't make us feel any safer. We had used a coupon found in one of those booklets given out at rest areas, and wondered if the lower rate meant we would be put in a room in the "less desirable" part of the hotel. If that is true, we won't ever use the coupons again. Bottom line is we felt so uncomfortable that we placed furniture in front of the door before going to sleep.
