Our running team flew in to race the Mississippi Blues Marathon and Half-Marathon held on January 7. We looked this hotel as it was listed as an official race hotel which meant it offered a special price for racers. We picked this one over the others listed as it also was the only one that offered a full southern breakfast and free parking while beating the other properties in price. We stayed for 3 nights (5 of us in 3 rooms).
The hotel was in a word fantastic. It was immaculate and well appointed and the staff was helpful and kind even though we runners probably cleaned them out of bananas. Some of us used the fitness room and it was serviceable. The only negative, though not for me, was that wi-fi never worked the entire time that we were there. Apparently other guests have written about this problem on trip advisor so it isn't new. I wasn't there on business, but if I were, I would have been unhappy about that. Also, while there are freight trains that pass at night, it is obvious that they slow while going through town. I saw several in the middle of the night and couldn't hear them in my room.
There is plenty of parking and though the hotel is walking distance from the downtown area, Jackson could be sketchy at night. Daytime walking from the hotel was pleasant and near many landmarks including those featured in the recent movie and book The Help.
We definitely enjoyed our stay and should we make it back to Jackson, we would definitely return to the Sleep Inn.
