I wasn't really expecting much in a small town like Jackson, but I was pleasantly surprised at the Fairview Inn. It's a beautiful historical home near Baptist Hospital. They have the main house and a new addition which was built in 2000. I stayed in the new addition in the Spanish Suite. The room is very large with a separate sitting area and large bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower. My only complaint about the room, which left me hoping that the other rooms didn't follow suit, was that the baseboards were extremely dusty and when I looked behind the headboard, I saw things from previous guests that unnerved me a bit. I would say that it's time to paint the trim in the room or at least the baseboards. I'm kind of a stickler for shower grout being white and not showing any dirt or stains, and I was disappointed to see that this shower didn't pass the grade, and the grout on the floor in particular, needed serious cleaning or regrouting. The bathroom blinds were missing their wand so to get them shut I had to use the hook that the wand should have been attached to. The top sheet on the bed was stained but other than that, the bed was very comfortable.
I simply think that it is time for a touch up on the room. But don't misunderstand, it was basically a lovely little Inn and the staff was very kind. I had a wonderful meal in the restaurant and my server was a charming woman who took excellent care of me. My scallops were done perfectly and the vegetables were the perfect blend of crisp but not undercooked. They have a nice selection of wines and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
They serve a full breakfast and can accommodate any dietary requests. They have a nice tea and coffee area where there is always a selection of cookies and a cake.
All in all a very pleasant surprise in Jackson. I would just suggest a more extensive approach to cleaning.
