my overall experience was ok but definitly not satisfied.. i stayed here for 2 days with my family and when i was checking for hotels i was informed that this was a great one to choose from. the first night here was wonderful staff was great mylastnight here was horrible.. there were guest who had children upstairs and let them run around and wouldnt control them and then right next door there was a couple arguing nonstop for hours on in and when we called the front desk to complain they did nothing so we had to continue to call... they still did nothing finally at midnight we CALL and they say do you want to change rooms? 1st we have kids sleeping why should we change rooms because u wont do yoour job and 2nd why would we want to stay here again? it is not our plaace to go tell these people to stop arguing were supposed to let the office know and they take care of it but they didnt... so overall this hotel experience was horrible because the staff on third shift was to lazy to keep there guest happy and coming back they would rather lose money and that is exactly what i am doing.. the next time i come to mississippi i wont stay here and i recommend other people not to stay here either

Room Tip: when you have kids learn how to control them and remind them that there not home so they cant just j...

“Nice Room, with friendly staff”

I stayed at this motel when I was visiting one of my friends. I stayed for 3 nights and the room was comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful, and my room was cleaned everyday, and all in all it served its purpose.

“The Worst Ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2009

We were travelling after about 19 hours in the car and stopped at this hotel. They said it was their last room available and charged about $80. We were so tired and went right to the room. It was terrible.

The fridge had mold in it. The pillows didn't even take up 1/2 of the pillowcase, they were like lumps. The toilet had something brown and sticky looking all over the seat. And the beds were rock solid.

We immediately packed up and went to a hotel on the other side of the street.

“Clean, basic & affordable - with outrageous blue walls!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2008

Our family was looking for an affordable overnight en route to New Orleans. The Western Inn Express at I-55, Exit 61 in Hazlehurst, MS was just the ticket. $64.10 without a reservation at 7 pm at night.

Great location: near KFC, McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Sonic, Wal-Mart.

Two-story, outside corridor and covered (but outdoor) stairs at a motel with some loud patrons.

There was a seasonal pool (still covered in mid-March). The room had a small microwave, refrigerator, comfortably soft beds, soap and shampoo, medium quality sheets and a stingy amount of low-quality towels.

It was clean; we slept and left. Good value. The only thing I'd forewarn others about is the alarming blue paint on the walls. Very odd.

  • Liked — value; comfortable beds
  • Disliked — obnoxious blue walls in the room; included breakfast was high-carb, whole milk and very little OJ

“Western Inn Express is Very Blue”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2007

The Western Inn Express is a two-story motel on a highway, down the street from a Piggly Wiggly, next to a Taco Bell/Kentucky Fried Chicken, and less than a quarter-mile from a soon-to be replaced Wal-Mart. The rooms are painted blue, a darker shade than any wall I’ve experienced in a lodging establishment. The three flickering 40-watt fluorescent bulbs barely illuminated the shadows of the room, which was perhaps a good thing. At one point I thought I dropped an earplug behind the side table and discovered a Wal-Mart receipt, a penny, a used tissue, and a ball of dust and hair. Comforters were synthetic, with holes, in a red-white-and-blue patriotic motif.

The motel has a bullet-proof style window that the hotel owners stand behind at night. During the day, guests can step into the small lobby and take a plastic wrapped pastry from the small fridge.

The motel has a small highway side pool. TVs work well, but the bathroom was pretty dim, with a loud fan and strange plastic fixtures. The motel was apparently recently remodeled, so I suppose the fixtures are new and the blue paint was a way to hide the walls and whatever had been on them.

This motel isn't the worst place to stay, but it's not especially clean and you'll hear your neighbors through the walls. The motel manager gave someone else the key to our room while I was there, which was a bit disconcerting.

Across the street is Stark’s, the favorite local hangout. in the space of a former Dairy Queen, which sports a daily special: Fried Bologna on Jalapeno Cheese Sourdough Bread Sandwich.

  • Liked — Close to the Piggly Wiggly
  • Disliked — The dark room, flickering lights and dirt
