“Worst Hampton Inn ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

I stay at a lot of hotels and especially Hampton Inn. This is by far the worse Hampton I've ever stayed in. The picture listed on the web site is for the newer section which covers only a portion of the property. Most of the hotel is older and really run down. It's pretty apparent this was once something like a Days Inn or some inferior hotel. The breakfast was just ok although the ladies working it were very nice. My room has stuff on the carpet showing it was not vacuumed when I checked in yesterday. It is still there today after room service was here. The door barely shuts and has some serious cold air coming in around it. When I go out I have to fight to get the door shut by pulling down on the door and slamming it. The blinds are really weird and do not close very well. The curtains do not cover the windows so people peeking in can certainly happen. The carpet and room generally feels like something from 20 years ago. I first thought it was just me but it turns out two other colleagues are experiencing the same issues. The 4th one is in the newer section and he says it's better there. The majority of rooms here are accessed outside which is not something you expect from a Hampton Inn. There is construction going on during the day so do not plan on sleeping in.
Never again will I stay here. There is a Hiilton Garden Inn when I come back. I cannot believe Hampton Inn attaches there name to this hotel.

Room Tip: ASkng for the newer section might be better

“Great hotel and wonderful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I always enjoy my stay at this hotel. The hotel is very clean and conviently located to restaurants, the interstate and shopping! The staff is very friendly, helpful and curteous. If I am ever within a 50 mile radius, I will stay here!

“Comfortable and clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This is a solid property with comfortable, clean rooms. I had a king bed and a small living area with a sofa and coffee table. Also a microwave and fridge. The room was clean and, even though I was on the outer side of the building facing I-59 I heard no traffic noise at all.

One observation, however: the gap between the bottom of the door and the threshold was approximately 1/4-inch wide. I could easily see daylight through it. It occurred to me that on a scorching day or cold night this would create a climate-control problem in the room. It was a beautiful, warm fall day so this didn't matter. Still, I stuffed a towel in the breach overnight to prevent light and a draft from entering and keeping me awake.

Poor construction quality control, I assume. Also, I'm not a fan of rooms that open onto balcony/walkways, which is how this hotel is built (at least the portion of the building where my room was located.) Those factors made me ding the rating from four to three stars. Otherwise, I had no problems. I didn't have breakfast or the happy hour/light fare they serve in the evening so can't comment on that. Had a restful sleep in a comfortable, big bed. The location is excellent, right off I-59.

“Wonderful staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

The staff is always very accommodating at this Hampton Inn. They keep it really clean and the beds are really comfortable. No complaints. I look forward to my next stay there.

Room Tip: The staff has been incredibly accommodating each time I've been there at the Hattiesburg Hampton...

“Good location, good extras, good night's sleep.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011 via mobile

This Hampton is a motel style property but dispite the fact that it was pretty full, it was quiet. There is a fitness center but it was very small( one old treadmill, an old elliptical and some weights). They offered a free dinner of chili dogs and nachos and sodas. Breakfast was really good, consisting of omlets, sausage, waffles and more. Comfortable bed!! A little expensive for the area though.
