Given the opportunity, I like to stay at Hamptons. They are pretty dependable as far as service, cleanliness, etc. The service was as expected - friendly people making sure everything was exceptional for the stay. Refrigerator and microwave in the room - always a plus!
I'm guessing the rooms we stayed in were a bit older (reserved 3). The rooms were on the ground floor as requested, but like many older hotels, rather than being on an inside corridor, they opened right out onto the sidewalk. Definitely not what I have expected from a Hampton, but again, I'm guessing it was a little older. The room was nice, but the seal around the door wasn't too tight so there were some little bugs that got in and it rained during the night so it was a little damp (not wet) around the door. As a side note, on this side, there were two floors, but you had to take outside stairs to the second floor so for people with difficulty climbing stairs, a lower level room is a must.
While the service was everything I have always enjoyed, the room was less that what I normally find. We've stayed in the area before and come through at least yearly. I'm just not sure if the Hampton will be my first choice for the next trip.
