Stayed at this Microtel on the way home from a Thanksgiving trip. Read great reviews here on Trip Advisor so booked a room for a one night stay. The hotel was pleasant enough. It is situated right off the interstate with plenty of major chain restaurants close by if you want to grab dinner. Check-in staff was friendly. The room was nice and the beds were HEAVENLY! Another reviewer mentioned linens that you'd expect to find at a more upscale hotel and we have to agree. The bath amenities were basic. The room was clean and included a fridge and 4-cup coffee maker with coffee that was actually decent. Internet was speedy. In the morning, there was a stack of USA TODAY newspapers for the taking. The problem? The breakfast. Okay to be fair, the coffee was okay. But the breakfast consisted of pre-packaged breakfast burritos and pre-packaged egg-muffins and some other random cr@p. By pre-packaged, I mean in sealed cellophane, pop in the microwave. We went to a nearby Cracker Barrel.

If breakfast isn't important to you, give this Microtel a try. If you're a frequent traveler like us who wants a decent breakfast included with the price of the room (think Drury, HI Express, etc.) you might not be happy with Microtel.

We have stayed at this Microtel Inn for about 3 years, on different visits to Hattiesburg. In the past we have been very pleased, unfortunately this past visit, just before Thanksgiving of 2011, we noticed that the general areas are becoming quite shabby. Carpet in the hallways need replacing, the breakfast area is getting run down--just from use. Additionally, the continental breakfast is put out, but not 'refreshed'. So if you don't get there early you may be out of luck. There doesn't seem to be anyone attending the breakfast area. Main desk staff is pleasant, and the rooms are clean. Problem with heat, unit doesn't respond to changes made on the thermostat, and does not hold the heat, thus requiring continual adjustments.

On our way to Destin, we stopped at the Microtel. Location is convenient, right off the Interstate. The parking lot is well lit with lots of spaces. The lobby is clean with friendly staff. Our room was nice, although quite small. It was fine for one night but would not recommend for an extended stay. They, perhaps, have larger rooms available for longer stays. Beds comfy. Breakfast was good. We booked online and got a super rate. Would stay there again.

Stayed here in Hattiesburg while driving to Texas. Great staff, ultra comfortable beds with high end sheets. Breakfast was included and very nice. Used their computer to check email, fast connection. Good valve for the price.
