This was a very enjoyable and comfortable hotel. Well decorated inside and out. Clean throughout. Friendly staff. Our room, non-smoking on second floor, was exceptional. Two very comfortable queen beds, a sleeper sofa, double vanity sink, heavy furniture, nice office desk and chair.
Coffee brewer, frig, and good climate control unit.
Rate included a breakfast buffet consisting of numerous breads, eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, potatoes, pancakes, coffee, and juices.
The elevator suffered a mechanical breakdown the morning of our check out. The staff was all over this problem quickly.

This is a recently refurbished hotel just west of Gulfport on Interstate 10. We found the accommodations to our liking so we stayed there again on our way back home from Texas.

Magnolia Bay is a simple, clean hotel. Not a lot of frills or luxury. You will find some nicks, dings, and foibles around the property. Everything was recently painted and new carpet was laid down in the rooms and common areas. It has a contemporary look to it. Rooms were large, newly re-furnished, are equipped with a microwave and a mini fridge. The King Room also has a sofa bed. Sleeping was comfortable and quiet. Curiously, despite the renovations the rooms still have plain old 20 inch televisions. Unlike the previous reviewer we had no problems with the wifi - - but then again we were on the first floor.

The bathroom was fine and the hot water shower strong.

Magnolia Bay has an indoor pool and jacuzzi. The water was clean and warm. Nice after a day's worth of driving.

There are no restaurants close by (except for the previously mentioned Denny's) so it might be best to catch dinner on the way. The hotel offers a hot breakfast which we found to be very good. Unlike some hotels, the hot entrees were prepared in small batches so they were always fresh. Because we ate early both mornings, not sure how it stands up with a breakfast crowd.

The Front Desk Staff (Christine) was quite friendly and helpful and she readily accepted the discount coupon from the Interstate Travel Magazine. Since this place is about half way between our Florida home and our Texas destination we likely will stay here on our next trip.

My husband and I are in the middle of schlepping the Uhaul across the U.S. so our hotel needs may differ from the norm. We really wanted a hotel that was (a) convenient to I-10; (b) clean and not scary; (c) located within walking distance of a sit-down restaurant; and (d) free wi-fi, parking, and breakfast.

Crystal Inn (now renamed Magnolia Bay Hotel and Suites) met most of these expectations. As previous reviews have noted, the drive into the hotel is dark and somewhat seedy looking, but the hotel itself is newly renovated and looks fairly nice. The breakfast is free and adequate. There is a Denny's and Waffle House within reasonable walking distance.We were very disappointed that despite the renovations, the wi-fi is still not working (seems to be an ongoing problem, as this was noted in previous reviews as well).

Overall, a reasonable stay. Didn't knock our socks off, but it wasn't bad. More like 3.5 stars than 4, I think.

Our ball team stayed there for a softball tournament in June. We ask the front desk if we could check out after our game if we lost out and they assured us that we could check out without being charged, but when the time came for us to check out they allowed us to do so but we were charged for the night after we were told we would not be. The manager was called and he was very rude and even hung up on one of our parents as she tried to plea our case. They lied to not only myself but to several other parents there. The manager and sales manager were both rude to several of us. I will not stay there again and would not recommend anyone staying there.
