“Long, Slow Slide Downhill”

The motel looked like a former Holiday Inn Express that is slowly going downhill. I stayed here because it looked decent on the outside, but inside was another story. Also, the clerk spoke very little English and refused to offer a Senior Citizen discount.

The lights in the room were missing bulbs in half the fixtures and some of the fixtures were falling off the wall. The room was clean for the most part, but the carpet had a lot of stains. The electrical outlets were missing coverplates and the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work.

The door had a working deadbolt, but the chain was broken. The air-conditioning/heater was missing the knob to adjust the thermostat, so I used the on-off knob to make the adjustments.

There was a drinking water faucet in the bathroom, but the bath towels were small and thin and there was no washcloth, plus the wallpaper was peeling off the bathroom walls.. I called the desk about the missing wash cloth, but the lady who answered the phone didn't seem to understand what I was asking.

The bed pillows were decent, though the bed was a bit lumpy. Breakfast in the morning consisted of 2 kinds of pre-sweetend cereal and coffee. There was a toaster in the breakfast bar, but no bread.

The room was quiet.. I'll give them that much, but the air purification unit didn't work. I really should have gone elsewhere, but I was too tired.

“Not the Best: Not Even Close”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2008

Despite the name, Best Inn isn't anywhere close to the best. Their billboard advertising and marquee sign advertised $39.95, but my room was $45. The clerk at the desk refused to explain what the difference was and refused to offer any discounts.

The room was clean and the TV worked, but 3 of the 6 lights in the room didn't work and were literally falling off the wall. I was in a handicapped accessable room, but the bathtub/shower was NOT handicapped accessable. It was a standard bathtub and had no safety bars in the shower, though there was plenty of hot water.

I did make use of the internet access in the lobby and was able to access the web with a minimum of difficulty. The rooms supposedly had Wi-Fi access, but I didn't try it.

The bed was comfortable and the pillows were only half flat. The motel itself was far enough back from the highway that there was very little road noise.

In the morning, I went to the lobby for their "deluxe breakfast" only to be greeted by "Froot Loops" and "Frosted Flakes", but no milk, no muffins. I tried to ask at the desk if there was more milk or some non-sugary cereal, but clerk acted if she neither spoke nor understood English.

All in all, it was an "OK" stay, but it will need lots of improvements before I would consider staying there again.

  • Liked — Quiet, clean
  • Disliked — Non-working lights, lack of a handicapped accessable shower in a Hanicapped accessable room.

“In Need Of A Lot Of Attention”

The Evergreen Room must get it's name from the mold in the bathroom. The shower had mold in almost every crack and crevice. The smell was certainly not fresh. The towels were next to thread bare. I guess at 39.95 you get what you pay for.
