My husband and I were walk-ins very close to midnight on 8/8. We stayed in Room 118, but from talking to other guests the a.m. of 8/9, I think every room told pretty much the same story. As soon as we turned the air conditioner on, the racket started. Over a period of two hours, my husband disassembled the unit piece by noisy piece, hoping to finally reach the origin of the noise. No luck. We simply couldn't sleep. Too noisy. There is absolutely no way that an earlier guest didn't report this problem to the owner of the property. At check-in, despite the fact that it was a king room, we found one towel, one hand towel and one wash cloth. We secured an additional towel and wash cloth from the front desk, but were told that the hand towels wouldn't be available until the following a.m. Hand towels were never available. Conversations with other guests revealed that they experienced the same shortages in their rooms. The wall light by one side of the bed, closest to the bathroom sink, didn't work. We tried different bulbs. Still didn't work. The room was really dark. The stopper in the bathtub didn't work *at all*. The turntable in the microwave didn't turn. The iron leaked like a sieve from the handle. The room and bathroom were filthy. All of these problems were reported to the owner at check-out. He had no comment, had obviously heard the same complaints before. So much for Choice Hotels' "100% Satisfaction Guarantee." One additional thing we learned: The owner's fairly elderly parents are charged with cleaning and maintenance of this property. There's the problem. It's a true "family" operation where, unfortunately, no one but no one cares about customer satisfaction, repeat guests nor good business practices. Those of you on the road through Canton, BEWARE. There are other properties flanking this one on Soldier Colony Road. Try one of them!
