“A value for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

I stayed here for 8 days in June while visiting family in the Twin Cities. After reading reviews I was skeptical, but it proved to be a value for the price. I would definitely consider staying there again. I have stayed in worse places for more money. Small kitchenette which met my demands and a full sized refrigerator. They will be starting a major remodeling in the late summer and replacing mattresses and putting in larger flatscreens

“DO NOT STAY HERE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2011

This is really just a homeless and destitute last resort motel. The beds are just like sleeping on a box spring and that is it. The rooms are filthy, there is no sound barrier between rooms. You hear absolutely everything. This is the worst hotel and experience I have ever had traveling. I have never taken the time to write a review, but I hope to save anyone else the horrific experience. It may be cheap and easy, but it is NOT worth the back pain, noise, dirt and filth not to mention the bad people lurking everywhere.

Room Tip: Just don't do it.

“OK place, just bring your own pillows”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

This room was clean and roomy enough, the full size refrigerator with a real freezer was nice, of course that means you have to make your own ice as there is no ice machine, or any other amenities to speak of. The real complaint was the tiny, puny pillows! Be sure to bring your own if you want fluffy ones! There is also a small one time chrge for wireless internet access, but it did work well. If you arrive late, you may have to search a little for a parking spot too.

“Big Problems but Speedy Response from Top Management”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

Problems with the hotel, but this was the fastest response I ever received to a customer complaint:

This hotel was in good condition when we stayed for over a week six years ago, so again needing longer term, knowing it has kitchenettes, we booked another week. We requested a quiet room and instead couldn't sleep due to soccer team above. Windows didn't work causing water to leak into the room; pieces broke off sink; not clean; the day we left the toilet broke. On-site management not professional and repairs were never made. It caused considerable inconvenience and lost time finding another place.

HOWEVER, and this is a BIG however, I was still upset about this when we got home and wrote a letter to the President of the Chain. Within three days I got a phone call from the regional operations manager! He questioned me at great length and in an extremely polite and professional manner. He said he was going to the Woodbury hotel the next day to see to changes. And he reimbursed us for the two nights we stayed.

So if you have a management that is sincerely interested in rectifying problems and does so in such an incredibly fast and responsive way, then that is larger in my mind than having problems in the first place. Therefore, despite the problems we had, I'm giving this a qualified YES, because I believe the problems were attended to, but do ask to be placed on the top floor if you need quiet. And make it stick.

The rates for this hotel are excellent compared to others in the area, if cost is a consideration. Also, check the room first before agreeing to stay in it.

“Not too bad.. but make sure stovetop is fully plugged in!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2010

The main reason for staying at Extended Stay in Woodbury was because of its kitchen feature-- which I assume is one of the main reasons why anyone stays there and because of its close proximity to St. Paul.

We got a 2 double bed, non-smoking room. Checking in was a breeze. The size was pretty decent. When we first entered, though, we noticed that there was a smell to the room-- not of smoke, but it was more of a dusty smell. Luckily we had some Febreze in the car so that helped wonders. I've read reviews so I knew what to expect-- no frills, bring your own shampoo, etc. The kitchen fits one person comfortably, 2 people ok, but definitely not 3 (we had four people in the room). Dusty smell and small kitchen aside, the only thing that frustrated me about our stay was the stovetop not working so well. We really needed to use the stovetop-- that was our number one reason for staying there (besides a place to sleep of course)-- to boil chicken. We needed water to come to a rolling boil but it never did--- it only simmered! This was completely frustrating as it took me 4 hrs to cook 4 chickens. This all happened after office hours so I didn't even try calling the office. This stovetop fiasco really bummed me out and made me not want to consider extended stay anymore but today, after completing an honest survey, I received a call from someone at Extended Stay apologizing about the situation and attempting to make it right the next time I decide, if I do, to stay at their hotel again. I will be holding him to his promise!

**Seems the problem with the stovetop was that it was not properly plugged in all the way. So-- make sure your stovetops are properly plugged in after checking in!
