“Holiday Inn - Let Down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

We all know what class of hotel Holiday Inn Express are so I am not sure if we just had a bad experience this time. The real issue that that we had was the overall cleanliness of the hotel room which could have used a lot more attention. However after a 12 hour drive sleep is what we were really looking for. Our room which was a Queen Suite had what they claim to be a queen size bed, there must be very small "Queens" in Woodbury as this was not a "queen" size bed.

We asked the front desk about the size of the bed and was told that was their queen bed.

When it came to sleep the bed had us rolling to the middle of the bed all night. Sleep in this bed was a absolute nightmare had we been able to sleep.

“Nice and fun stay away from craziness in the cities.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

It started off kinda bizarre when my wife said get off on the next exit theres a Holiday Inn. Im used to being at home with the remote with the control if you get the picture. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the front desk staff with warm welcomes. The property seemed bigger on the inside then the out, oh and did I mention the smell of the cookies in the lobby was enough to make me faint they tasted even better! We ended up getting a 1 bedroom suite at an awesome rate the room was exceptionally clean we ended up extending our stay to 3 nights instead of one because the kids loved the pool and this hotel is 3 minutes from Lake Elmo Beach so we spent one day there sun bathing. But to sum things up I would reccomend this hotel to anyone with small children or couples who just want to getaway, breakfast is hot and free (awesome) staff is great all the way to the night guy who pointed me in the direction of walmart and everyone else who contributed. Thanks

“A Comfortable Stay Near Stillwater”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2008

I initially had a difficult time booking at this hotel as I was told they didn't give AAA discount. This was incorrect and was remedied (you can read the entire story here: http://blog.havekidwilltravel.com/2008/05/27/hotel-booking-if-something-doesnt-seem-right-it-probably-isnt.aspx.) Thankfully the situation was handled very well by the manager, assuring our booking.

This hotel has two floors, the second easily accessible by elevator just opposite the check-in. We had a two room suite.

The suite itself was quite large and roomy with one bed in a separate room and a pull-out couch. It also had a dining table and a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator. The room was clean and we had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and the ladies working in the breakfast lounge were wonderful to help me manage food and two little girls.

My single favorite thing about Holiday Inn Express hotels is the breakfast included with your stay. And this location was above average. The weekend breakfast included: biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs, hot cinnamon rolls, cereals, breads, fruit, yogurt, breakfast bars, milk, juice, coffee and tea. The hot items were hot, the cold items were cold and everything was laid out neatly with easy access. You can eat in the open breakfast room or take a tray up to your room.

Wireless internet is available and easy to connect to; there is a pool and exercise room on the main level.

“Nothing special”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2008

My fiance and I stayed here for one night since we were attending a wedding in the area. I was not impressed at all with the hotel. Our room was okay, but the bathroom was not. When I tried to adjust the shower head it come out from the wall about 4-5 inches! The bathtub had what looked like white paint on some the bottom and side of it and it wasn't very clean. Also, as said in some of the other reviews, the shades don't keep out the light very well. Overall the stay wasn't terrible it's just not what I expected for my money. If we were staying for more than one night I would have looked into other hotels in the area.

“Just fine for a two-star”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2008

I stayed at this hotel under a wedding block, and I have to say, it met all of my expectations for a two-star property. The room was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was also a nice size and very clean. The staff was curtious, and the common areas also clean (I did not check out the pool, though there were lots of families using it). Breakfast was average (lots of choices, but not many of them overly healthy). The only negative I can point out, and this really wasn't that big of a deal, is that since it is located directly off the highway (as these types of hotels usually are), you could hear some traffic noise. But, it wasn't that bad at all. Bring earplugs if you are sensitive to this stuff. Overall, a great value.
