“DO NOT GO HERE....EVER!”

We had planned just a one night getaway to Winona, and this was one of three hotels (other choices looked worse) with a room left to reserve, so we did. Spent the day wandering our way to Winona (beautiful town/area) and attempted to check in at 6pm. Noticed a huge tarp covering part of the roof...first clue. Halls were dirty, moldy smelling, just bad. Checked in, walked to our room and the door was unlocked...walked in and both beds were stripped with the laundry in a pile on the floor (still at 6pm). Went back to the front desk and she switched rooms for us. Went to the new room, and it was horribly disgusting. I didn't even want to walk on the carpet in my shoes it was so dirty and stained. The walls were even gross, all kinds of black handprints, markings, smears, etc.. Stains on the unwashed bedspreads that you didn't even want to think about. There was no cover for the wall thermometer, just hanging wires on the wall. Front desk girl was apologetic, but we checked back out and, because of happenings in the area, EVERY other hotel was booked and we ended up driving the 180 miles back home the same night. Very disappointing. If they demolished this building and rebuilt on the same spot, it could be good. This should be called the NO Quality Inn. Sleep in your vehicle instead of here...seriously!

Room Tip: Finding another hotel would be the only tip I could give you.

“Really bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

Stayed here because it the only hotel with rooms available. The room was gross and smelled very moldy. The only way we could stand the smell was to leave the outside door open. As an added benefit, we got to meet lots of "friendly" drunks who were wandering the grounds. Carpet was beyond GROSS. Wallpaper was peeling off everywhere..Beds were horrible. Hard to believe the health department would allow this room to be rented.

“Horrible service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

I would have to agree with Stacey Prieur and kls1 with their comments. This was one of the worst places i have ever stayed in. I was also part of the wedding, which the bride is my little sister. I don't get how I paid for a room in advance and had it booked but couldnt get into my room until 2am the next moring. The receptionist was no help with getting me into my room and tried telling me that i check out of my room when I had paid the money to stay there the night of the wedding. Overall was a bad experience.

“Treated like royalty, Surround with opulence in a Shangri-La like setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean (linens & towels), comfortable (new bed) and refreshing (new carpet and remodeling). We all felt well rested in the morning....most important Then we enjoyed a decent meal at Perkins. I thought the room/breakfast was reasonably priced. Great !!! I’ll admit, I was reluctant to stay at this hotel because of some the past reviews. Remember, there are people who expect to be treated like royalty, surround with opulence in a Shangri-La like setting. Yet, these people would rather complain to get a discount then pay for Shangri-la.

“The building looks disgusting; mold issues.”

I needed a place to stay for one night, and decided to do Quality Inn because I am a CHOICE member. I told the girl working the front desk that I had a dog with me, and she was very nice and told me that was fine, but that there were specific rooms that were pet friendly. I said that's fine, and she checked me in. Upon arriving to the room, I was hit with a really horrible smell. It smelled like mold and must. The carpet was stained, the wallpaper peeling, the yellow blankets on the bed looked stained and smelled like the must as well and I wonder the last time they were washed. The hallways in the hotel were disgusting too, especially in the hall I was in. It just reaked of cat urine. I decided that I could probably get more for my money than this, even with traveling with a pet, and decided to check out about an hour after arriving. I heard the rennovated rooms look great, but some major rennovating should go into the hallways and the general upkeep of the building, which looks like it could crumble soon. Stay somewhere else if you can is my advice, or make sure you request a newer room.

The Q.I. is a very clean hotel. Our hallways are clean and spotless. Our Pet Friendly rooms are not our new rooms, but all of our rooms are clean and at a very good rate. Our improvements to our property are fantastic and more to come. The weekend this guest was here we had over forty pet owners and not one complaint.

Our hotel is constantly inspected and is certified a clean and healthy building and I can prove this to any person who would like to contact me.
