“Reasonable and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

Nichols Inn was a pleasant surprise. It is not modern, but it is a comfortable, clean hotel. They are friendly and accommodating. We recently traveled to Winona for a family emergency. We traveled through the night and were exhausted. Nichols allowed us to check in at noon, which was wonderful. It allowed us to take a short nap once things stabilized. The room was quiet, clean and cool. The air conditioner was relatively quiet for a room air conditioner. The beds were extremely comfortable. The breakfast the next morning save us some time and money. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Definitely will return to this comfortable, reasonably price motel.

“A view of Auto Tires”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

Although we found the hotel staff very helpful, the room clean, the beds comfortable I didnt enjoy our view from our basement (they call it first floor) room. If there had been a tornado, yes, we would have been safe and yes, it was quiet. However, I felt very closed in and since we stayed for a entire week it would have been nice to have a third floor room with a view of the city. I learned to always ask to see the room before you check in. Breakfast was great, yummy waffles and good coffee. Yes, I would stay again but only if I had a better room and view.

“Don't recommend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

My husband and I stayed here while in town for a wedding. The floor was more comfy than the bed. Took the night staff over 30 minutes to get us another pillow. It was also very noisy. Noise started at 5:30am and was ridiculous. People yelling, slamming doors, running up and down the stairs. The floors creaked so you could hear every footstep. Even talking in a normal voice you could hear in another room.We finally just got up, packed our bags and left. And the breakfast they offer? consists of stale cereal and hard waffles (that you make yourself). The staff there didn't seem to care either. Please take my advice and stay elsewhere...if another hotel isn't available, sleep in your car or drive to the next city. not worth the money (although cheap prices).

“Nichols Inn worth much more than a Nickel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2008

I stayed there with my wife in a very clean and well furnished room. The big TV was nice and the bed was new. The owner told me that it was a remodeled Super 8 that they completely redid. My rate was about $80 and the breakfast was great. Waffles and ceral and toast and fruit. The only negs was that it was a little noisy as the motel is wood construction. Well worth the money...I am hooked. Service excellent and polite.
