“Overpriced with zero ambiance, Motel 8'ish at upscale prices”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

These older units are owner occupied units that are rented when available. Poorly decorated and small with one double bed. Powerline crosses the river right at the condo units. Total cost is over $200 per night when something less than $79 might be suitable if you take into account you can use a boat slip, if a boat slip is of any value to you.

“No hot water!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2009

I was extremely disappointed with this place when I stayed there recently. I needed to get out of town Valentine's weekend and just wanted to find a dog-friendly place with a hot tub and a fireplace to rest and relax for a stress-free weekend.

Everything was fine (it was clean, the caretakers seemed nice, etc.) and I was enjoying the place and the town but Valentine's night, when all I wanted to do was sit in the hot tub, alas-- no hot water! I called the caretaker and she came over to look at the hot water heater (which in fairness, was new), but couldn't see anything wrong. Due to the holiday, she couldn't get a plumber, but assured me that they "would take care of me" and they'd be in touch first thing in the morning and get someone over.

Well, I was scheduled to leave by 11 the next morning, and they never bothered to even speak to me (much less apologize or give me a discount) the next day. In fact, I followed up by email a month after my stay to nicely remind them that the hot tub was a deciding factor in my choice of lodging and that they had assured me that they'd take care of me. It's been five days and they haven't bothered to reply.

There's *no way I would ever stay here again*, nor recommend it to anyone I know. Lack of hot water is not a deal breaker. Crappy customer service, however, is.

“Don't Stay Here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2007

I booked a loft with expectations of a peaceful stay in Wabasha. However, the room was a complete disappointment. The room was dirty and the owner rude. There were hairs on the bathroom floor and dried food stuck in the sink from the last people to stay there. When I brought the condition of the room to the owner, she argued with me about it and never offered an apology. Overall, the whole experience was disappointing. For the amount of money I paid for the loft, I expected the place to at least be clean. If you're considering staying in Wabasha, go someplace else. Don't stay with Eagles on the River.

“Dirty Suite, Worn out appliances”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2006

Stayed in the captain's suite which is their nicest. Price was $289/night and we stayed for 2 nights. The view was nice and the decor was nice but the telephone didn't work, the mattress was completely sagged in the middle and the unit appeared to have nothing more than a vacuuming. The bathroom had spiderwebs in the corners on the floor and there were stains/filth on the tile on the bathroom floor. The mirror had hair stuck to it and streak lines from being rubbed by a towel. There was a layer of dust that would ball up wherever you rubbed in the unit. My wife spent an hour cleaning the kitchen before she would cook in it. The coffee pot was old and took forever to brew a few cups. The floor boards in the living room/dining room had big numbers written in pencil all over them. I wrote a complaint email to the women who booked it that acted like the owner and she wouldn't reimburse part of it and hadn't even looked at it before responding to me. The fireplace lit by itself at 4am waking me up from my light sleep in my caved in mattress. The juice definately wasn't worth the squeeze here. Too much money for a river view of a couple barges going by. We won't be staying here again.

  • Tips/Secrets — Avoid this one, too expensive for being dirty and worn out.

“BEAUTIFUL”

Eagles On The River is a very very romantic B&B. We stayed in the suites. Very nice. Very clean. I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a romantic getaway. Prices are very reasonable. The Mississippi River is right there. Just beautiful. I think anytime of the year would be nice to go here.
