Good hotel for short stays with family. Indoor pool was great and lobby is spacious. About 7 miles from Lutsen Mountain for skiing and an easy drive. Bluefin Bay resort is across the street and the restaurant was a little pricey but the food was excellent.

Included breakfast was bare bones at best - ran out of waffle batter one day and donuts the next. The hotel was packed but they knew that in advance and hopefully can plan better next time.

King Jacuzzi Suite is not a suite but a large room with a jacuzzi - deceptive label as I usually think of a suite having a separate bedroom. Another lesson to ask first.

Minor irritant: TomTom location is about one mile south

We stayed for a night while skiing at Lutsen Mountains. Rooms clean and comfortable. Pool was clean and inviting. Everything worked as it is supposed to. Lobby very comfortable and large. Included breakfast was a treat for every one. Best of all... great value. I will stay there again.

Loved the Americinn in Tofte! This is our 5th time staying here and each time is getting better. We joined their Preferred Customer program and received a "free upgrade upon check in". We had a double standard room upgraded to a double queen suite with in room hot tub. The breakfast was great and the lounge was super comfortable--we sat downstairs had a complimentary cup of tea and read the complimentary local paper by the stone fireplace on the plush leather couches. Ahhhh! We did not want to leave but at least we will definitely be back!

The AmericInn in Tofte MN is typical US roadside motel. It is located across the 2-lane highway from Lake Superior but does not offer views of the lake. Our room was simple and clean, showed a bit of wear and tear, but definitely was good value for the money spent. The room price included wireless Internet service, continental breakfast, and use of the lobby with its inviting gas fireplace. Note: our ATT/Cingular cell phone would not work in Tofte. It felt very unusual to be without cell coverage.

There is a wonderful restaurant called the Bluefin located just across the street. In busy season, reservations would be necessary.

Because of good service and good value during our initial stay, we made a reservation to go back to the AmericInn in Tofte a week later after our planned canoe trip. When arrived a week later we learned that Internet service to the hotel had been disabled due to a lightning strike two days earlier. Even though it was after the no-refunds hour, we asked to change to a different property in order to have Internet access. Staff obliged and found us other accommodations.
