“Terrible hotel terible customer service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

My 18 year old sons stayed at this hotel. They said the hotel was terrible as far as beds, condition, etc. I was appalled to find that they charged $20 for an early check in. The boys arrived before noon and they only allowed them to check in by paying $20 cash. I have worked in hotels and stayed in many hotels all over the country. I never heard of paying. If the room was ready it isn't like they could rent it to someone else it was reserved for them. What difference does it make if they get into it a few hours early Then on the day of check out their flight was at night and I asked if they could get a late checkout usually given as a courtesy if the hotel is not sold out that night (which I can not imagine would be the case) and they said no and wanted to charge $10 per hour. I don't think they know what customer service is. Before I slam the entire staff both Heather and Trina were very accommodating on the phone with me. It is the first time my boys traveled alone and both of them helped me with logistics, credit card info, taxis etc. I don't suggest you stay at this hotel, but I do suggest Heather and Trina go work somewhere else.

“could have not asked for better”

I normally do not stay at the economy hotels but I got stranded in Shakopee due to my flight cancellation and as there were no rooms available in hotels of my choice, I had to search for room in any hotel and got a room in this Travelodge. I was little skeptical but at check in I was welcomed by Heather with a pleasant smile. I had a wonderful sleep as the bed was just perfect for me. Although the room had basic amenities only but I did not have any problems. At checkout I was given this Trip Advisor review card so I decide to write about my stay. I feel that for an economy hotel the property has all the right things and I would not hesitate to be there again if I had to. I would like to thank Travelodge Shakopee staff for the good the good care that I got and for making my stay relaxed.

“Out of Town Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

Stayed at this motel for its close proximity to valley fair and Canterbury park while visiting family. The price was right and so was everything about this place. The front desk was polite and accommodating. We got one of the suites, which gave us plenty of room to spread our things. The room was bright and smelled fresh when we walked in. The bedding looked and felt newer than most other motels we have been to. The location meant we could take multiple trips to and from our targeted locations without having to think about time or gas spent. The freshly baked waffle aroma in the hallways was enough to get me out of bed every morning and make it breakfast. My family and I felt pretty safe in the building and the free internet and extended cable kept my kids busy enough to let my wife and I relax. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and will definitely keep this location in mind for our next trip. Thanks for the memories.

“Come back to this place year after year”

I've been staying at this travel lodge on my business trip to skaopee for many years now. Recently got a trip advisor card from the hotel owner so decided to put in my two cents. This place has been my home away from home. The owners are very polite and helpful. I've always found the place quiet, clean, and comfortable. Will be coming back as long as its here.

Room Tip: The jaccuzi suite is a treat

“No Business In the Hospitality Industry”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

We will never go back, nor recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfortable clean accommodations or good guest service. After reading reviews on this site, I totally agree with multiple comments that the owner's wife is obviously bothered when guest assistance is required. We saw the garbage piled up at the "security" entrance. There are no security systems locks on the entrances, so anyone can just come in, all hours of the night. There IS a camera focused on the continental breakfast area. WHAT FOR??? Looking for people taking too many half donuts. There are screens missing from room windows located over the dumpsters (yuk), smelly old air conditioning units in the rooms, a bathroom door hole "fixed" with this ridiculous fake wood repair goop blob about the size of a dinner plate. The bathroom has room for a toilet and your feet. The bathtub had no safety strips in it and I slipped and almost really fell. Upon advising the owner, he promptly waited until I fell again next week, this time really hurting myself. We have seen the entry door full of vomit, a thermos full of soured milk on the 'continental breakfast bar', garbage all over, dirty carpet and bathrooms, and worst of all rude, unconcerned 'management'. Don't stay here and save yourself the hassle. And, if you qualify for a lodging discount, be careful - the owner lady will rake you over the coals/argue with you and try to charge you a premium rate. These people have NO BUSINESS in the hospitality industry. They are only there because of the proximity to Valleyfair. There used to be nice gals who worked at the desk, but they have quit the company. Go figure! Do yourself a favor and stay at Mystic Lake, America's Best Value Inn (Canturbury Inn), Day's Inn or ANYWHERE ELSE.

Room Tip: no security or swimming pool
