The St. Paul Hotel is an historic hotel in the heart of downtown St. Paul. The lobby is very nice and the rooms aren't bad, although they are not the hugest (which is pretty standard of older hotels).
On the one hand, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the beds are very comfortable. But while the hotel is certainly fancy, I wouldn't exactly describe it as luxurious. The bathrooms, for example, are really just a small step up from what you might find in a nice motel, with cheap plastic toilet seats and a motel-style bathtub.
Also, as some others have written, the walls are pretty thin and if you have the misfortune of sleeping near the elevators, you will hear them all night.
Overall, though, very nice and certainly worth the money.
Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevators
