“Our first B&B experience and it was very nice & relaxig”

My boyfriend and I stayed here for Valentine's day, and we stayed in the Masters Quarters. The suite is very cute and homey. The suite was clean and well taken care of. The sleep number bed was fabulous! I am not gong to lie it was a little creepy at first. It is extremely quiet and we did not see any of the other folks on the boat until breakfast the next day. Which for some, is pobably a great deal! We were just a little creeped out by the complete silence.

We were disappointed with breakfast. I guess we were hoping for an assortment of food being that we paid $160 for one night. We were given french toast that was full of fruit and fun pink whip cream for Valentine's day. It was yummy, but far too sweet as it was already drenched in syrup so we did not eat much of it. We were really hoping for eggs, toast, and some meat!

Besides being disappointed in breakfast we really did enjoy our night on the boat. It is perfect for a quiet getaway. I can imgaine the fun people have in the summer when able to hang out on the deck!

My husband and I had a great time at the Convington's. The breakfast is delectable and environment serene.

“One of the Best Bed and Breakfasts I've Ever Stayed In”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2010

The Covington Inn is one of the nicest Bed and Breakfasts I've ever stayed in - and I've stayed in many. My room was surprisingly spacious and beautifully decorated. Through the porthole windows, I could see the Mississippi rush by and an occasional duck or two. It was restful and energizing. The owner was wonderfully gracious and kind in arranging accommodation for my daughter and myself. She was available when needed and respectful of her guest's privacy. The breakfast was excellent. By the way, some previous reviews have criticized The Covington Inn for its small bathrooms and the supposedly long walk to get on board. For a ship, the bathroom was more than ample and well equipped and the walk to the boat was by no means a marathon. I enjoyed every aspect of my stay and can't wait until my next visit.

“If you like *unique* and have a sense of adventure.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2009

The Covington is absolutely charming. The rooms are quite unique, and are perfect for a quiet getaway for 2, when you just want to be alone. If you want a unique suite, with a private sitting room, and an intimate setting, then this is a great place. The baths are very small, and some of the floors slant to the aft (back of the boat), and the passage ways are very tight an narrow, some steep, and outside above the water! This is all part of the rustic experience of staying on a 60yr old barge engine (it's not actually a tug boat, as others have called it). The hostess/owner is equally unique, and I found her to be absolutely charming in her own unique way. Breakfast was just delicious, though be it a little on the rich side, appeared to be well liked by all the guests we stayed with. Since this is a boat on the water, it has an incredible view in every direction, but requires a bit of a walk along the dock, landing, and parking lot, but it is all quite safe, and again, adds to the experience. It's *near* everything, but requires driving and down town parking for dinner (we recommend the DownTowner) If you are used to plush rooms with room service and bell hop, then this is not for you. However, if you want quiet, romantic, rustic, unique and charming, and don't mind a few cob webs on the dock, then this is an adventure you won't want to miss. Was there anything bad about staying here? Yes... 1 thing... I found myself wanting to stay in each of the other rooms. Each is unlike the other, and I could spend a week alone in any of them with my wife, and be absolutely content. We just can't wait to go back again next year, or maybe even this winter!

“Best hotel or B&B I've stayed at for years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2009

If you are visiting St. Paul, this is the best place to stay. I found it on google and stayed their twice. Its a great idea (hotel on boat), lovely interiors (beautifully crafted), nice amenities (quilts and bathrooms), and the breakfast is delicious. All the rooms are good, but I like the Pilot House best. The decks and views are beautiful. There is lots of space to lounge, there is a restaurant across the dock, and where else can you stay ON the Mississippi? I recommend it highly, and I stay in *lots* of hotels. THe proprietor is friendly and very accommodating, a good cook, and stays out of your hair (unlike so many b&b owners). Really a great place to stay.
