My parents and I stayed here during a weekend visit to Minneapolis. The price was reasonable and the location is great -- we were within 10-15 minutes of everything we wanted to do. The rooms aren’t quite as well laid out as in some of the newer SpringHill Suites properties, the décor is a little dated, and breakfast is served on Styrofoam plates with plastic utensils rather than on real plates with metal utensils, but the bed was comfortable, the free wireless internet access now available in all rooms worked well and the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful.
If you are traveling at a time when occupancy is likely to be high, however, I would think twice about staying at this hotel. The hotel was packed the weekend we were there -- two large tour groups the first night and a full house again the second night. The breakfast room is much too small to accommodate all of the guests when the hotel is full. Overflow seating was offered in a back room, but eating breakfast around a large banquet table with a bunch of strangers is not an especially appealing option. The serving staff could not keep up with replenishing the buffet and some obvious things were not provided at all (no bananas?).
Noise from the parking lot was also a problem. The first night we were there and again early the first morning of our stay, one of the tour buses sat in front of the hotel for what seemed like a long time with its diesel engine running loudly. More of an issue, the second night of our stay, a large group of people congregated in the parking lot having a grand old time and making LOTS of noise -- a second call to the front desk eventually got them quieted down, but by then it was after midnight.
On previous occasions, we have stayed at the Hampton Inn in Minnetonka. It offers rooms for a similar price and we probably will book there the next time we come to Minneapolis.
One minor comment: The hotel is adjacent to I-394, but if you do not have a GPS, I would suggest printing out detailed directions for getting to it from the exit -- the address is Wayzata Avenue, but the only street sign you will see for Wayzata Avenue would take you in the wrong direction.
