“Decent Value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

If you are a fan of the higher end Marriott furnishings and open floor plan suites like those often found at Residence Inns, Homewood Suites, and Garden Inns, you may be disappointed with this facility. Hard, older spring mattresses, cramped double queen "suites," and dated furnishings will lead us to look elsewhere on our return visits to the area. Keep in mind that the rates are rather low at approx one ten vs. one fifty'ish as the previously mentioned facilities.

The staff was cordial but not overly friendly. They were able to provide the crib and first floor unit as requested.

The room was clean but the layout was questionable with less than two feet of space between the AC and the second queen bed. Given the close proximity of the bed to the AC and the loud AC, sleeping in that bed was a challenge. Furthermore, the closet at the foot of the bed created another in passable tight spot when opening the closet door.

The bathroom was clean but the sink drained slowly and the CFL lighting in the stool room was barely acceptable. The water pressure and temperature were perfect.

The "kitchenette" is misleading. You get a stainless sink, microwave, and mini fridge. No utensils, counter space, stove top or oven. Do not expect to cook or prepare food in this space. Opposite of the "kitchenette" and sharing this space is a typical desk and chair that cannot be occupied while another person is standing at the sink, fridge, or microwave.

The pool and hot tub area were clean, and adequately heated with acceptable levels of chlorine. Cudos for keeping the area open until 11pm.

Breakfast was as expected with cereals, bagels, fruits, yogurt, eggs, sausage, and a waffle station. Various juices along with coffee, tea, and milk are also provided. Each of our family of four found a little something to satisfy our breakfast needs.

Overall this place is a good value as we can overlook the room layout problems but the poor nights sleep on the hard spring mattress eliminates the potential for a repeat visit.

“Well Appointed, Proper Breakfast, Very Courteous Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

This is a very well appointed place with very courteous staff and good sized rooms. The breakfast is very pukka also with a range of proper food (ie not like many of the Days Inn type cereal, milk, coffee and that's your lot) including some Kosher items. I was very satisfied overall and would certainly return here, as well as recommend it.

“Bad service, lumpy mattresses, loud air conditioners”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

I was truly disappointed in this hotel. I love suite hotels in general, and am a great fan of springhill and homewood type hotels, but this particular hotel was well below mariott standards.

First off, beware that there are 2 types of King suite (non-spa) rooms when you check in. One of them is significantly larger (maybe 50 sqft, big in a hotel room). The larger king suite has a desk between the bed and the window / air conditioner. This is critical. We had a whole party come over to MN for a wedding, and a lot of us had the larger king suite, and some of us had the smaller king suite where there was only 2 feet or so between the bed and the window. All for the same price. The horrible thing about the smaller suite is that the air con is so close to the bed, it doesn't blow indirectly in the room, it blows in your face. I've stayed in motels with better sleep quality than this.

The mattresses in this hotel are old spring mattresses. You can feel the lumps and the dislocated springs. I had shoulder pain after my second night. The bed is listed as a King, but it isn't really a king. It's closer to a queen.

Service was bad. Our bathroom sink drained slow to begin with, but after the 2nd night, it was too slow to bear. We called the front desk to send someone up to take a look while we were out for the day, but upon returning, the sink is unchanged. Also, upon returning, our keys would not work, since they "expired". I've never had that happen at a hotel before, which meant we had to go back down to the lobby, wait in line, and get our keys reactivated.

The door to the pool also would not open for key cards, even though we tried during the pool hours. We had to get someone from the front desk to open the pool door for us.

The breakfast area was way too small for the size of the hotel. There's no where to sit, and its almost impossible to get the food without bumping into people.

Of the few positives, the standards in the suite-class of hotel are there. Microwave, fridge, sitting area, wireless internet.

My advice to you travellers is to pay an extra 5 dollars and stay at homewood suites (by hilton) down the road.

Room Tip: If booking King suite (non-spa), make sure at checkin to get a larger suite to avoid air conditioner...

“A good choice. Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

Walking in at 9pm we were greeted by a smiling face. Happy smiling face.
Our room was exceptionally clean, large, and new.
Breakfast was much better than most free breakfasts. Offering much more than just the normal.
More smiles at we checked out.
Highly recommended.

“Nice facility, would stay again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

Our room had 2 king beds and a sofa sleeper so there was room for 6 to sleep. The mini fridge and microwave saved alot on eating out. There was a great breakfast each morning. The kids enjoyed the pool. There was a grill available for use on the outside patio and we had a cookout one evening with a large group of friends. The only problem we had was one evening we returned and our cards would not open our room. The hotel's master key did not work either. The hotel had to call in a technician (on a holiday and late at night) to reprogram our door to enable us to get in. The hotel was kind and gave us that evenings night stay free. I did realize that once we did get in our room that it was obvious housekeeping hadn't been able to get in our room either that day and must not have reported to anyone that our door was not working. I talked to the staff at the front desk and they agreed that if housekeeping would have notified the desk when they couldn't get in, they could have had the problem fixed before we even got back, so they credited us another night's stay. We were very pleased with the service we received and we would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: All rooms are mini-suites! Great convenience for families!
