“Needs some work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This is one of the more reasonable places to stay outside of St. Paul. The front desk was great and the room was okay but well worn. The in room frig was a little noisy but all in all, it wasn't bad. What was a big shock was the height of the shower. I'm not tall (5' 9") but the shower only hit my chest. If someone was really tall, you probably just want to take a bath. The breakfast bar was good but not great.

“Nothin better than this Hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel on January 17 to the 20th and what a great time i had. The front desk staff was extra friendly and would go out of there way to make sure that your needs were taken care of. I think that everyone that is at the Front Desk deserves an award for great customer service. hint hint raise perhaps. My room was very nice, need a little more selection of channels but the comfy bed made up for it. Went down to breakfast in the morning and they had a good selection of food to choose from, the waffles were absolutely awsome. If you need a good place to stay while your in roseville this should be the place. GOOD JOB EVERYONE AND KUDOS TO THE GM OF THIS HOTEL.

Room Tip: Stay on the 4th floor. Quiet and cosy.

“It's cheap and convenient.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

This place is not paradise, but for less than $40 a night it's OK if you don't plan to spend too much time in the room.

The pluses are that the nightly rate is cheap thru any of the online reservation systems "secret" or "undisclosed" hotel options. The location is convenient to both downtowns, the U of M, State Fair, and Rosedale. There's a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave in each room. The single queen room I stayed in was fairly spacious although minimally furnished. The on site laundry is not fairly priced ($1.25 per wash/dry) however the soap dispenser was out of order and the room was not very clean.

The cons are that the place is pretty shabby. The individual rooms and halls are worn and in dire need of updating. The easy chair in my room was disgustingly stained on the armrests and headrest area; I threw a towel over it but still felt queasy about actually sitting in it. The bathrooms are tiny. The towels felt more like car polishing rags. Pillows are of poor quality. Even though I was in a non-smoking room, the lingering smell of smoke from the other rooms crept from the hall and into my space. The internet service was barely working for the two nights I spent there; it's nearly impossible to connect and painfully slow if you can. I gave up and went elsewhere for free wifi.

They do serve the standard continental breakfast, which I did not take advantage of since there are several good coffee shops and restaurants a few blocks away. The Indian restaurant next door is one of the best in the state; so skip the hotel food and go there for the lunch buffet.

Overall, this place is OK if you only need a convenient place to sleep. It's not quite wretched but it's getting really close. Unfortuate because it has potential to be a really good, mid-priced hotel.

Room was dirty and smelled bad, shower was but a trickle and didn't drain, TV was not usable, no coffee, WIFI didn't work, elevator quite working, breakfast was cereal and some old bananas, just a total dive would never stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay next door at the Radisson

Dear Reviewer,
I am truly sorry that we did not meet your expectations. I appreciate that you have taken the time to complete the review as well as our Days Inn survey. I can assure you that all of your concerns will be addressed. The elevator was fixed that day and the internet issues have now been resolved as well. I am sorry that you did not find our breakfast adequate as we have several items you could have enjoyed including waffles and hard boiled eggs. Please know this is not typical of our hotel and these problems will all be taken care of.

Sincerely,
Lavita Arenas

“poor value, alarmingly bad employee attitude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

The room was large, but dark, and had a bad smell. I suspect that it is a former smoking room. The room was reasonably clean, and the housekeeping woman was friendly and did a good job.

Number of towels provided was minimal (two thin ones for two people). Pillows were very low quality. The water pressure in the shower was extremely low, and the water was barely warm. The wireless internet in the guest rooms was not working, and the desk clerks told me it would not be repaired. There was some weak internet service in the breakfast room. While I was sitting there working on my computer, I could hear the person in charge of the desk training a new employee. She talked about how to use the computers etc., but mainly explained about how to lie to guests when there were any problems or complaints about the rooms. Most of her sentences ended with "because I don't give a sh**." She explained that when someone calls to request a room in which dogs or cats have not stayed, because of allergies, she assigns any room and tells the person it has not had animals in it, when it is not true. "because I don't give a sh**." She talked about how to give a price for a room based on what the person looks like when they walk into the lobby. She said when someone calls to ask to speak to a manager, she always says there is not manager present "because I don't give a sh**it." All of this was very disturbing. I knew that if I complained about problems such as the poor water pressure, the policy would be to tell me some lie about why that's just the way it is. I would never stay there again.
