I was in town on business (my office is less than a mile from there). I arrived in the early afternoon and my room wasn't ready. I finally got in it at around 4:30 or so. I needed a non-smoking room and they assigned one to me. When I got to the room, it was marked "non-smoking" but the room had obviously been smoked in a lot, and recently. I took that in stride and assumed they just didn't know someone used it as a smoking room. - strike one
The room decor was old and things did not appear in good repair, but I figured, what the heck, I'm there and I'm tired. I drove somewhere to get a meal (no food on site). When I got back, I was tired and went to bed. The bed I had, was one of the most uncomfortable ones I've ever slept on.. or should I say, not slept on. The linens were okay, but the mattress and bed were awful. I had a couple of other business associates with me. They reported the same problems. I'm only in a hotel for one reason... a good night's rest. - strike 2
The complementary breakfast was mediocre, at best. The selection was poor, and the "warm" food I had was cold. - Strike 3
I won't be back.
I stay in hotels 100 nights or so each year. While they're not usually my first choice, I generally find Holiday Inn Express hotels to be clean, up to date, and decent places to stay. Perhaps this one has yet to be upgraded, but it certainly didn't fit my expectations.
