“Not the best LaQuinta”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

We stayed at this LaQuinta for the first time Saturday night. It was a really mixed stay, so here goes:.

*The good*

Front desk clerk was very very nice when we arrived, somewhat late. She tried to get us in a room she though would be quieter because of wedding parties going on at the hotel (more on that later)

Hotel is completely non smoking and since I'm allergic to cigarette smoke I was very happy to see that!

Room was very spacious, almost like a one room suite. Very clean. TV was not an LCD but had a flat screen and a decent selection of channels.

Internet signal was very strong and worked flawlessly

King size bed was firm and seemed new. Sheets were tight. Bed seemed high quality

Pool area was open 24 hours so we were able to go into the hot tub for awhile and relax at 1am...it was great, and really helped our tired muscles after being cramped on the road all day. I'm sure children must love the kiddie pool with it's rainforest type waterfall and fancy slide. We didn't go into the regular pool, but it looked inviting. The area was clean.

Microwave worked great. Fridge was big enough to fit a gallon sized container in comfortably.

The desk area was well lit, with a large work space, and a perfect place to work on the laptop.

*The bad*

The pillows just don't go with the bed. Thank goodness we brought our own along. The bed is so comfortable and luxurious, but the pillows seemed like something you would get from a dollar store. little balls of fluff inside of a very thin cover. When we tried them all you could feel were the balls of polyester. If you are going to invest in really nice beds, please invest a little more and get pillows that match that quality!

The water pressure wasn't the best, or else the shower faucet is blocked somewhat. The shower left a lot to be desired.

The room became very hot during the night. Strange because at the time we didn't have even the fan on and it was chilly outside. It got so warm we got up during the night and turned on the a/c...which made it sound like a 747 was trying to land in our room. We eventually adjusted to the sound, but it was sooo loud!

The loudness did help with the next problem, partiers in the halls, loud, drunk and obnoxious most of the night. Woke up frequently, but they finally quieted down toward morning. We pushed towels along the bottom of the door to try and drown out the sound. Finally, there's .....

*The UGLY*

Breakfast! Breakfast at this LaQuinta goes until 11am on Sundays. We went down around 10 am. There wasn't a single clean table. We had to use napkins to clean off a table to sit at.

There wasn't an attendant in sight, (and only a couple other tables had people at them). At every other LaQuinta we have stayed at, there is always someone there, cleaning up the room and restocking during breakfast. This room had not been cleaned or restocked in quite awhile.

The were no pastries or donuts or bread to make toast, if there had been they were long gone, but we didn't see a place for them.

The apple juice was warm, colored water...and usually the apple juice at La Quinta is delicious. Tried some orange juice and it was flavorful but warm too. Perhaps the dispenser that dispenses the juices was broken, just not sure.

The waffle batter was very thin and watered down so it was hard to make a good waffle.

They had biscuits and sausage gravy too. The sausage gravy was good, but the biscuits were so hard they could have broken a window if you threw one at it! Totally hard and stale. Hubby was very disappointed because sausage gravy and biscuits is his favorite breakfast. He finally got some of the sausage gravy and put it in a bowl and skipped the biscuits. He would have made toast...but there wasn't any bread (and remember, breakfast wasn't over for an hour yet).

The worst thing of all though was the floor! It was filthy...so dirty our feet stuck to it whenever we walked on it. That floor needs a good scrubbing and probably has needed on for quite awhile.

I'm giving this hotel a 3 because there were a lot of good things at this hotel...but the stuff that was bad was REALLY bad! Would stay here again in a pinch (and that hot tub WAS heavenly)...but I really hope they make some changes, because this could be a great hotel with a little effort.

“Amazing Value and Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

We were extremely impressed with the value and service. When comparing it to other hotels in the area, this hotel appears far better than even the more expensive ones.

The rooms were clean, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the room was quiet at all times. The staff were super-nice and did a great job of recommending restaurants in the area. We really appreciated the free hot breakfast which consisted of freshly made waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, muffins, boiled eggs, cheese, yogurt, juice, milk, cereal, and many other items.

The pool area was great! It was clean with a large bathroom in the pool area that had a shower area also. We loved that the pools were heated and the kiddie pool was amazing with the frog slide and mushroom waterfall.

We also liked that it has a shuttle service to Mayo, free parking, and a coupon for 10% off the nice restaurant on site.

Overall, we are impressed with the value and plan to use this hotel every time we're in the area.

“Could use more attention to detail”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

Stayed here Sat.-Sun 10/9-10 for a wedding. I realize for the price that it would not be fancy, but I expected all the basic needs would be met. Yet the AC didn't work after initially kicking on, there were no washcloths in the bathroom, my room had only one electrical outlet, and that didn't work, and the parking lot was filthy with litter. On the plus side, front desk was very friendly, the bar was great (for a hotel bar) and checkout was very easy. With so much competition up and down Broadway, I would not come back. Maybe Rochester's captive audience, and high motel occupancies, does not motivate them to keep on top of things?

“Nice enough for the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

I requested a room close to the pool and got THE closest room to the pool. Nice! The kids love the pool area. There is a kiddie pool, a bigger pool that is only 5 foot at it's deepest, and a whirlpool. The rooms were clean. Only two towels; had to go get more from the front desk. The front desk people were nice and helpful. We ate at the restaurant; the food was good, but the service was not. The breakfast was okay. Nothing special but better that most. For the money, I would definitely stay there again.

“medical stay”

My spouse and I stayed on the 5th floor of the Laquinta Inn from June 13th until July 29th for medical purposes. The 5th floor are apartment settings with kitchens, living room, and a seperate bedroom which was great since he was ill the bedroom was behind closed doors so he could rest. You have a pullout couch, recliner and a small kitchen table and a full kitchen for cooking. The staff was great and came to the room everyday for cleaning. It was quite most of the time and very private. It is a great price . Also you have two tv's which is really nice.
