“Peaceful stay in Rochester”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I stayed one night at the hotel while on business at Mayo. As many have said before, the hotel is very central to everything downtown, including the clinics (2 blocks). The weather was nice enough to walk outside, but the skywalk and subway (tunnels) are connected to the hotel. The restaurant in the lobby was very good and there's a starbucks on the skywalk floor which was very convenient. Parking with in/out privileges was $12. The front desk staff were all very friendly. My room was on the Hilton Honors floor. Beds were comfortable. Free wireless. Good sized shower. The workout center was sufficient. Didn't use the pool, but some families seemed to be enjoying it. Overall, this is a reasonably affordable (although on the more expensive end of the spectrum compared to other places in the area) and very comfortable stay. It felt relaxed and quiet, which was exactly what I needed. I would recommend it to everyone.

“Family friendly and close to everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Stayed at this property with my hubby and two small children (2yo son and 6yo daughter) while my dad was having surgery at Mayo. Hubby and I had stayed here before but not with the kids. I am an HHonors member, but even so, the front desk was smart enough to put us on the corner on the HHonors floor so we didn't disturb anyone, and the room was so clean. Love the pillows, and the bathroom with its glass door and full tile surround is always wonderful. The lobby decor was classy, and being connected to the skyway meant we could bring everything to the car after checkout and go back and explore the Barnes & Noble (it is in an old renovated theater and has a castle on three walls, complete with balconies and turrets) at our leisure. Would definitely stay again!

Staff is extremely friendly! Facilities recently remodeled and outstanding. Have stayed at other hotels attached to Mayo. However, Doubletree outshines ALL others.
Pescara is without a doubt best meal in city.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Hilton Honors floor. Lounge is open 7 days a week

“Hilton Makes Mistake with NO MOVIES TO BUY”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Don't get me wrong...I'm still a big fan of this hotel but Hilton decided recently to drop the movie purchase option and they don't have DVD players so NO VISUAL DISTRACTION is there for guests. BIG MISTAKE HILTON!!!

Most guests at this hotel are patients or family of patients at Mayo Clinic. We ALL need some distraction from our lives. We're either having treatment done, awaiting test results, or just wanting to feel like we're NOT at Mayo.

PLEASE REINSTATE THE MOVIE PURCHASE OPTION IMMEDIATELY or I'm guessing you'll see many loyal guests (myself included) find another hotel that offers distraction for the patients.

The rest of the hotel is wonderful, as usual. Food is great, service from all areas (front desk, cleaning staff, room service, etc.) is top-notch.

Room Tip: The front of the building is a little noisier than the back, but really not much difference. They...
