I would not stay at this hotel again. It was not very clean, the door would not open and had to give it a good kick to get in. There was blood on the door where someone probably tried to get the deadbolt to work and had hurt themselves. There was no clock radio or coffee pot in the room. If it had not been so cold outside, I would have rather slept in my car!

We just needed a one night stay and did not want anyplace fancy or expensive. Just a night's sleep. We tried the Motel Six and were very pleased. Everything looked either new or fixed up very well. The motel was very clean and had all the amenities that one comes to expect at places that are more expensive. There were a lot more rooms than you would think when driving up to it and the room itself was large enough too. If you need to be at the Mayo Clinic then it takes a drive to get there as the Motel Six is at least a mile from downtown Rochester and is on the four lane highway going towards the Twin Cities. It proved that a motel does not have to be ridiculously expensive to be clean, comfortable, and up to date. The folks who checked us in were nice and hospitable too. There was even what looked like a small pool but it was covered in snow in February.

Check in was easy and swift. The clerk asked if we had a room preference, I wish I would have told her not facing the highway, because sure enough, that's what we got. It was very noisy. Thankfully the rest of our experience was fine. The room was bright and very clean, so was the bathroom. There was no bathtub but a very interesting corner shower. We'd recommend to anyone traveling to the Rochester area.

I would have to say that Motel 6 Rochester is in better shape than Motel 6 Duluth, although it was about $5 more per night. ($31 vs. $36). It helps that the motel does not allow smoking in any rooms.

My room was clean and in good condition.

My only issue was that the motel is next to highway 52, and the rooms are accessed from the outside, so the road noise. Make sure to request a room on the back side of the hotel if you want to get some sleep. Also, there is only one ice machine at the main office. You will have to walk out in the cold, if you stay in the winter, to get some ice.

Overall I would stay here again.
