“Best value in Rochester & surrounding. Staff always helpful & kind. Near Supercenters but quiet. Great kitchen & value!”
I've stayed at this property NUMEROUS times (maybe 60 nights in past year). There's a reason I keep returning. It is an AWESOME value.
This place is a great value. I live hours away from my daughter (4 yr old) who lives in Rochester. When I come to see her, she actually enjoys staying at this hotel which is the best surrogate for home I could ask for in a hotel room: kitchen, bath, full fridge, pots, pans, area to play, close to House of Bounce, movie theaters, Walmart, friendly, consistent staff that she and I have gotten to know, and price. I get my room via Priceline, but even the walk in rate is worth it. Fast food and finer dining are also in walking distance. Shuttles to Mayo clinic. The ladies at the desk are both kind AND beautiful, particulary the manager, Dawn, who always has a smile for you. The gents are also helpful and courteous. They have any-hour check in, too. This location is MUCH better than extended stay rochester SOUTH. Cleaning staff does an excellent job and I always tip (or try to). They are reasonable with the need to check out late or arrive early, which has been very important for me on check in day when I need to get my little one down for a nap around 1pm and check in is not until 3pm. They have in-house printing via email. They have laundry machines at $2 a load.
The issues I have experienced as negatives (in my many stays)...smell. Many times, guests cook like they are at home (spicy or other aromatic foods) that can overpower the entire floor of the hotel. PETS...what a nuisance. Why the rest of society has the absorb the "cost" of your having a pet (on the plane, in the hotel, etc.) is beyond me. Sometimes rooms have been stinky or our allergies "go off" in certain rooms. The front doors make it a real pain to move your stuff in. They are strong and want to close on you while you're negotiating luggage. The room and exterior doors have those keys that have to be left in the door to allow it to open, meaning they are often forgotten in the door. They ask, "What brings you to the area?" at every check in to see if you qualify for discounts or something, which is really none of their business. I've been standing there with a date, or watched cancer patients checking in, and think this question is inappropriate. I hate their internet fees. You can sit by a window in Ext. Stay Roch and get FREE internet from the hotel across the street, but this hotel charges you $5 to access internet for the duration of your stay (more if you want faster internet). I have had a FEW occasions where the water was tepid at high use time. There's no pool, fitness, or meeting area. You cannot hardwire to the internet (via ethernet). Smoking is still allowed (third floor). You have to re-fill check in forms and re-present your credit card each time you check in; no information is really kept on file, per se. Parking can be tricky/limited.
These are all minor issues for me save for the pets and internet. The price, and value for it, are the main things, and on this, the property excels.
