Took shower in 4 inches of water because drain was slow. No smoking...NOT! The curtains were yellow stained, booger on the wall, no reg coffee on day 1, no coffee shampoo or soap om day 2. Would have left but they have a sighn at front desk saying they hold your money for days when you pay with a debit card. We come back to room on day 2 only to find the maid had pushed the chair into the drain under sink and completely disconnected the pipes. Water gushed out on floor so we called front desk. After about 20 rings they picked up and we informed them of the problem. They stated that they would call maintenance...we waited up and nobody ever showed resulting in us washing our handa in the tub. During checkout I mentioned the problems and the staff could not have cared less :-( . I Will never stay at another ameriinn Ever!
The rooms were suppose to be smoke free, but smelled horribly like some people been smoking in this room. The front desk said the hotel used to be a smoking hotel, but have been smoke free for 5 years. The room didn't smell like it. We bought freebreze and spayed it around, otherwise we wouldn't be able to sleep.
That day July 14 (or week), most hotels were full in the area (some kind of big event), so only a suite was available there. A bit on the expensive side, but it is probably hard to find a hotel with pool in or around Minneapolis for less than $100.
They pride themselves on quiet rooms and they are (presumably so the neighbors can't hear you scream when you discover how dirty your room is." They are filthy. There is dirt, dust, and mold everywhere. The whole hotel is dirty. The bathroom by the pool has things growing in it. The beds are horrendous. Completely uncomfortable. The pillows are old and lumpy.
The staff is somewhat friendly but, 'frankly Scarlett...they don't give a damn.'
It is well located but for less money you can stay at a real hotel that cares.
I've stayed in other Americinns and they are good. This one must be at the bottom of their list.
We only paid $83/night (including tax) which was much less than I was quited by other hotels close to Mall of America. It was a nice facility (fresh, without too much wear and tear) and I thought it was a great value.
Although it was right next to the highway, there was very little traffic noise in the room, due to the double windows. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The lobby area was very nice and they had free coffee and tea (several flavors, with the fun syrups to put in the coffee. I like hazelnut!!) The breakfast included hot waffles, and the cleaning lady was constantly cleaning the breakfast area.
There is a gas station/convenience store across the street, so it is handy to get a snack, and also to gas up a rental car before heading for the airport (the hotel is right next to the highway entrance ramp, and close to the airport, so a good place to stay if you have an early flight to catch the next morning.
A word of caution: this is NOT within walking distance of Mall of America.
We enjoyed it, and would stay there again. It was a good value for the price.
