Third time I have been here. First, to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday 2 years ago. Unforgettable. Wide , quiet, hallways. Stairways to offer memories made by people decades ago. Decor to invite your imagination, and they keep it to period. Parents 50th wedding anniversary last year. Two rooms, over river, in the fall. The view and the landscape, and trains, and history make you feel as if you've traveled hours to a different state and city. Last weekend, a quick getaway with my husband. Thank you, St. James - if I could change anything, it would be if we could stay there longer. If you are in the cities and want to find a real diamond - go to St. James as fast as you can, before someone changes it.!! Thanks, St. James!

Nice victorian room with all the updates. We got the Romantic package, including champagne, dinner and voucher for Jimmy's bar on the fifth floor. Food was great. The room was very nice...except our neighbors did not abide by the no smoking policy. The staff was eager to please and moved us to another room. Will definitely be back.

We spent a beautiful spring weekend in Red Wing and stayed at the historic St James hotel. It is showing some small signs of normal wear and tear, but is still a,lovely place. The staff was all very nice and helpful, the room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. We even got a nice turn-down each evening. We would recommend to anyone for a special stay while in the Red Wing area.

My husband and I stayed here yesterday and overall we enjoyed the visit (we had the Victorian package, which included dinner, breakfast and a drink at Jimmy's Pub). We ate supper in the Port and thought the food was very good and enjoyed a drink at Jimmy's pub. Our room was on the smaller side, but nice and did have a big bathroom. I would suggest they find a way to have a counter or table by the bathroom sink though to set bathroom supplies on. No worries though - there was a small table in the room that I moved by the sink. Our only complaint about the visit was the bed - it was awful! The bed made squeeking sounds every single time you moved (the bed frame was loose). Needless to say, I was awake most of the night as a result and am sooo tired today! I thought the mattress was fine, but my husband thought it was too soft. There were two weddings at the hotel while we were there, but it was not disruptive to our visit at all, which I thought was great given it is a smaller hotel. We would consider staying here again for the historic charm - but would need to be assured of a better bed!
