“Definately a Must Try!”

We had the pleasure of staying at the Golden Latern Inn at Christmas time. The Inn itself is so beautiful but at this time of year was so warm and inviting for Christmas. The common areas of the home are breathtaking. We had Megs room which fit our needs just right. It was very quiet and charming. Sioux is an outstanding host which made the trip even more enjoyable. We definately will travel back in the summer to take on all around Red Wing.I have never been to Red Wing and its truly a must see town!

“Wonderful service and nice room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

We stayed at the Golden Lantern in July when we found ourselves in Red Wing while exploring the area after a business trip. Our room, JR's Suite, was very comfortable and spacious. The house has many sitting areas, both inside and out; all were nicely maintained. My breakfast was excellent and best of all, Sioux, the innkeeper, was able to prepare a delicious vegan breakfast for my husband without advance notice. We would certainly return.
There was an outdoor concert nearby and the downtown area is lovely; we thought Red Wing was a beautiful small town to visit.

Room Tip: Rooms vary in size and design; be sure you look at the choices closely.

“Fall Weekend Get Away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

We had a very nice time at the Golden Lantern Inn. The house was beautiful and our room, Helen's Room, was great. It was a two room suite that had a bed and bathroom in one area and the other room was a sitting room with couch, chair, fireplace and tv. We spent the majority of our time in the sitting room and even enjoyed both of our breakfasts, which were very thought out and delicious, in there with the fire place on keeping us warm and cozy. The room also had a nice balcony to use if it would have been a little warmer out. They also had a great big backyard which also would have been great it we would have been there during a warmer time to use. It was nice to have a key to our room and the inn so we could come and go as we please. The library was also very helpful as we looked through some menus before deciding where to eat and borrowed some magazines to browse. We visited both the Falconer and Cannon River Wineries during our trip, both which were fun places to go. We got engaged during our weekend get away so this trip will always remain a special place in our hearts.

“Cozy, Relaxing, Beautiful. Great way to start our Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

The Golden Lantern was wonderful! My wife and I chose the Golden Lantern as the first stop on hour weeklong honeymoon. After the stress of wedding planning this place was the perfect escape!

We stayed in the Hideaway suite. It was spacious and cozy. We arrived late in the evening and in our room we found fresh homemade cookies and champagne on ice (this was a wonderful unexpected touch). The bed was very big, inviting, and extremely comfortable. The next morning breakfast was amazing. We enjoyed our breakfast in the room on the table next to the window which opened up to the front yard. It was a Beautiful fall morning and a picturesque day outside.

The food was excellent. We stayed two nights and breakfast both mornings was delicious and satisfying.

The common areas were nice and there was a lot of room in the house to explore. The library has a large collection of menus from restaurants the area which was a nice touch since we had no idea where to eat. Our stay was short so we did not make much use of the common areas. We spent most of our time in our room. It was quiet and very enjoyable.

The grounds are Beautiful. The back yard was large and there was a patio with chairs around a large fire pit and a swinging bench to relax on. Sioux had the fire pre-built so we could start it when we wanted, we had already made other plans that evening, but it was nice to know we had that option.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I only have two complaints, but they are rather small issues.

The shower in our room was small so it felt a bit cramped when taking a shower. This room does have a very large jacuzzi, so I wasn't too surprised that the seperate shower was small. Most of the other rooms had quite spacious showers.

The wireless internet was very slow. It worked well enough to check email, but most websites with lots of content loaded very slowly. This didn't really have much of an impact on my opinion of the place overall, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience and it was absolutley wonderful. We will be coming back again. We highly recommend the Golden Lantern! We want to thank Sioux for making our stay so fun and enjoyable.

“Nice B&B/ Overpriced for what this town offers.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

This town is extremely boring. I feel that the B&B was over priced for the town of Red Wing. The room was nice, but had it's downfalls like the bedding needed updating and the bath towels were terribly worn. Since the town lacked entertainment, sitting and watching the little tv added to the list of negatives. Although we heard the microwave working non-stop, some of the food on our plates were cold. There are 3 large dogs on the grounds and I didn't think they ventured into the common area until I noticed dried doggy do do on the carpet. I'm heading to Duluth next time. Rooms cost less and you get a bigger breakfast and wine and cheese in the evening. Not to mention things to do all day and night!
