The main thing a person should remember when booking a stay at the Super 8, in Park Rapids, MN, is that you get what you pay for. The first thing I noticed when walking through the hallway right off the lobby area is the smell of probably a decade or two's worth of cigarette smoke masked with air freshener.
Upon entering our room we were surprised at how musty and...wet it felt. A couple days' worth of running the air conditioner cleared the problem, though.
The Super 8 in Park Rapids is definitely showing its age, and in my opinion is in major need of an update. Replace the carpet to get rid of that stale cigarette smoke. Give the walls a fresh coat of paint. Add...a pool? It would make a world of difference!

Now, despite all of this, the Super 8 has an incredibly friendly staff, a decent continental breakfast, and soft beds. If you are looking for a ritzy, upscale place to spend some time in, you won't find it here. You WILL, however, find a warm, friendly atmosphere that fits the pocketbook, a solid roof over your head and a good night's sleep.

My family and I have stayed at this Super 8 in the past, and we will most likely continue staying here every time we find ourselves in Park Rapids.

We booked this hotel as a stop over on way down to Mankato after a day in Itasca State Park. The hotel itself was on the outskirts of town, situated near a wal-mart with some fast food chains located nearby.

Compared to other hotels we'd stayed in, the room we had could have done with a bit of updating as was dark looking and smelt of stale smoke as had probably been a smoking room in the past but was now a non-smoking room, though we were able to sleep, however he breakfast was good the following morning.

I would stay here again though only as an overnight stay if we ever visit the US again?

After a stressful battle with staff at the local AmericInn regarding a late check-out, we called the Super 8 and asked if they could accomodate our family with a very early check-in, before noon, in order to prepare for my brother's funeral. The staff was incredibly understanding and accomodating and went out of their way to allow us to check in early and have some time to physically and mentally prepare for the funeral. The woman at the front desk was so warm and friendly and did everything possible to make my elderly parents comfortable! THANK YOU!!!!!
