“EXCELLENT staff, Housekeeping, and Pricing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

I had an emergency situation and stayed with my son here for a few weeks. The manager, just a perfectly charming, warm, yet hard-working professional woman, instantly took up a knowledgeable favor with my situation that only a 'pro' could...she made me feel safe, and yet...at home away from the comfort of my home. Once when my 5-yr old slept through housekeeping, the hotel manager personally came to my rooom at 5pm as she was on her way home (keys in hand) ...WITH A GENUINE SMILE - and cleaned my room for me. And it was done very well. She refused a tip! When I returned once, without a reservation, I felt so good when the front desk remembered me on-sight and put me in the king-room with the hottub...on a "full night" at a deeply discounted rate....I will always recommend this place.
I never had a problem tipping the housekeeping a LOT every time they came in because my room was CLEAN, and they did a great job every time. If I had a problem with something...nothing comes to mind that's too serious anyway...it was immediately brought to attention and the remedy was always worth the call. The hot breakfast (waffles and sausage), cereal, bagels and fruit, coffee-all-night, juice, muffins, etc!, was the best. They also had a laundry room that could stand to be looked into every once in a while but it was GREAT to be able to go in there anytime and have the privacy and space to do laundry. The pool and hottub area is HUGE with coin-operated games and a pool table.. The living room is very nice with large stuffed sofas and chess tables and a fireplace! I really like it here. Strongly recommended. Another note: I had to drop some personal items in the safe and keep some stuff in the managers office and have a cell phone mailed there which arrived AFTER I left the hotel - they never complained or questioned me about any of it - just kept it all safe and promptly returned it back to me upon demand. My son had fun and I enjoyed the stay there. It's a great spot in Stillwater, MN (literally across the freeway from Stillwater)...close to EVERYTHING! :) have fun!!

“Great staff, good stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

Overall, this hotel was a good hotel for a quick stay. If you are a non-smoker, I HIGHLY recommend you to call after you've made your reservation for a NON-SMOKING ROOM that has ALWAYS been a non-smoking room. They have changed their smoking policy, but the rooms that one could have smoked in still carry a strong cigarette odor. Unfortunately, I did not do this, had to change rooms, and was given a non-smoking room that was still being fixed. I would have chosen that over a smoke-stenched room any day, anyway. Additionally, some of the furniture needs to go and the extra door to come in needs to be fixed.

On a positive note, the hotel clerk was AWESOME and exceeded my expectations though! He shared a personal story that made me feel much more welcome at this hotel. In addition, he quickly helped me change to a better room AND called 15 minutes later to confirm that it was an acceptable room.

Room Tip: Make sure you call in for a non-smoking room that has ALWAYS been a non-smoking room.

“Great budget hotel! I will be back again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

This is a great budget hotel and definitely very comfortable. The staff is very welcoming and also I just to want to mention that this is not a resort so the negative comments made above wouldn't apply. Fools! you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a 5-star service then pay a little bit more out of your pocket.

I also enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. It's a fresh continental breakfast. I would like to recommend this hotel to my friend and family.

Thanks for your excellent service!

“Horrible! Will never stay here again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We had reserved a king size room. When we checked in we were given a handicap queen room. We stated thats not what we reserved and they said they knew that but they already gave away all the king rooms. The bedspread was dirty and had holes in it. The shower sprayed water up at the dirty brown ceiling and then dripped back down on you while showering. Really gross. The smoke detector in our room started going off loudly. The desk guy came and shut off but it started again 1/2 hour later. He told us to just push this button when it started; we said no we are not going to do that all night so the desk guy ripped it off the wall. The whirlpool was broken and the breakfast was one of the worst continental I have seen. We were so thirsty when we arrived but their one and only pop machine was sold out. We would not stay here again!

“Room Was A Let Down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

We stayed at the hotel for a week while visiting with family in the area. We stayed in a King bed suite with our three children. I found the lobby welcoming and clean, but was not impressed with the room at all. The living room area in the suite which held the pullout sofa two of my children slept on was very, very warm due to lack of air conditioning. We requested a fan, if available, and received a filthy one covered in two inches of dust. According to the desk staff we were "lucky" to get it, "last one in the building."

Our room had four (thin) pillows for five of us (the desk attendant informed us there were no additional pillows available in the hotel when we asked for another one), no sheet for the pullout couch and cigarette burn holes in the sheets and bedspread that were on the King bed.

The exhaust fan was not working in the bathroom, so showers further heated up the rest of the room. The kitchenette although having a refrigerator and stove had not one fork, spoon, cup, plate or bowl to use in it. (or soap to wash anything you chose to bring in for yourself, anyway) The drink machine in the lobby was out of the order as was the juice dispenser and change machine.

i was also surprised by the fact that depite the notice in our rooms that indicated the hotel's desire to be "green" by cutting down as much as possible on laundering of towels and sheets, all breakfastware and coffee cups for use in the lobby were styrofoam and plastic.

The pool was nice, my kids seemed to enjoy it on the day they used it - the hot tub was broken...

I will go elsewhere next year when we visit MN again.
