Stayed here with a soccer team for the USA Cup for one week. Received helpful directions from the young man at the front desk for the route up 35W North, which is a nightmare to drive at night. The detour signs were not complete, and we spent 1-1/2 hours in downtown Minneapolis at night. We walked in really late, and tired, but the front desk clerk got us checked in very quickly, and we got an excellent rate on our room. The room was clean, and roomy. The only thing I didn't care for was the location of the "microwave/frige" area--which consisted of a microwave sitting on a shelf above the vanity, and a small refrigerator below the counter: both were located directly across from the bathroom door--not the most sanitary place to prepare a snack, and certainly the least appealing. However, we were able to receive wireless internet in our room, which was a huge convenience. The kids were thrilled that managenent was kind enough to turn on the water slide during the "off" hours stated at the pool entrance.
Overall, the front desk personnel made the hotel much better than the average Americinn. I have stayed at many of them. This particular staff was both friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable regarding places to go and how to get there. They had a wonderfully detailed map that made all the difference to a non-GPS-using, map-oriented traveler.
The hotel is attached to a banquet facility, and bowling alley/restaurant. Having read previous reviews, I was apprehensive about the amount of sleep we would all be getting. Because we were there during the week, there were no weddings, and therefore, no loud music or disturbances. The breakfast was basically waffles, bagels and doughnuts, with a juice machine. There were undercooked scrambled eggs, not appealing to the kids at all. This Americinn was extremely accommodating, especially because we were there with a group of youth soccer players. Would definitely stay there if we go back for the Cup next year. Thanks to the staff there!
