I stayed here with my 13 year old daughter on a trip to Minnesota to see the Mall of America, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and let her check out the awesome amusement park called Valleyfair (definately check it out if you're in the area). We had stayed 2 nights in Duluth upon arriving, and then headed in to the Twin Cities area to pick out a hotel. We saw this place off the freeway and it looked decent. The front desk staff were great. I asked about room availability and the room they offered seemed a little pricey so I told them this, and they upgraded me to a suite at the same price and I immeadiately accepted! They were very friendly and accomodating and we had a nice 2 bedroom king suite for less than $100. What a deal!
One of the reasons I love to stay at any Holiday Inn Express is the breakfast. I always book at a place with a free continental breakfast as it saves money, but some of them don't have too many appealing choices. This place has donuts, sweet rolls, whole fruit, hard boiled eggs, delicious hot cinnamon rolls, trix yogurt, about 5 cereal choices, bagels, and toast. For beverages they have pitchers with different kinds of milk, apple juice, and orange juice. They have hot chocolate, coffee, and tea. The selection is wonderful and is constantly being replenished by the staff. My daughter is a picky eater and she is always satisfied with the kid-friendly choices of Trix yogurt, cinnamon rolls, cheerios, and apple juice. It fills her up and there's never any complaining. There's a big screen TV in the breakfast area and a lot of comfortable seating.
In the room we had a nice big bathroom. The shower had very good water pressure, rare in hotels. In the bedroom I occupied there was a very comfortable kind bed with nice pillows. I had a sink and a TV as well. My daughter slept on the sofa bed and loved it! She at first complained about not getting the bed, but fell asleep within 5 minutes on the sofa bed. It was big and comfortable which was a big plus. We had doors separating our rooms so she could watch her TV shows before bed and I could catch a baseball game or news. She could also go to bed at a decent hour without being distracted by me watching TV and all the lights on. There was a nice mini kitchen with a fridge, microwave, sink... great for warming up leftovers and storing drinks and snacks.
I highly recommend this place! You get a lot for the small price you pay. Next time we fly out to the twin cities, we are staying here without a doubt. Our experience in Minnesota was amazing thanks to this place.
