As others have noted, the decor in this hotel needs updating, and other aspects are showing their wear (scuff marks on furniture, wallpaper loose in places). Those who can look past this, however, will find a pleasant hotel to stay in.
Formerly an Embassy Suites, this Comfort Suites offers more amenities than most. Cooked-to-order omelets and other hot foods such as potatoes, eggs, and sausage at breakfast; a restaurant and lounge in the hotel with a room service menu; and service such as bringing an extra blanket to the room are conveniences not found at most Comfort Suites.
We paid for our room with Choice Privileges points and were delighted that a two-bedroom suite with one king and double beds "cost" the same amount as a standard two-double suite. Our family of six had plenty of space in which to spread out, including a table for six, sofa and chair, bar stools, and the two bedrooms.
The king bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows, albeit the strange square-shaped ones that seem to be popular at hotels nowadays. The heating system was effective once we called the front desk to learn how to use it (it required using both the thermostat and fan control).
The bathrooms were tiny; one was missing the drain plugs for both the sink and bathtub but had decent water pressure; the other was fully equipped but had little water pressure in the shower.
We walked through the Skyway system to see the Holidazzle parade and the desk clerk gave us a skyway map and tips for the best place to view the parade.
The hotel is built above a parking garage so that the lobby is on the 8th level, but you don't really notice how high up you are. Our rooms had a view of a nearby public green area and we could see the Metrodome. A major hospital is nearby so there was siren noise from ambulances periodically throughout our stay.
Staff at the hotel were friendly and our room was very clean.
This was our second stay at this hotel and we'd return, especially if we can get the big corner room again for our large family.
Room Tip: The large corner suites are great for families with three or four children.
