The sleep number bed didn't work - it was like sleeping on mush. The mgmt's solution was to offer us a cot - NOT acceptable when you are spending a lot of money to have a romantic night out. No other accomodation was offered and I felt that was terrible customer service. Additionally, there was a mouse trap under our bed - thankfully empty. And we could hear the music being piped in for the restaurant until 1:30 in the morning. Never going back. It's sad; it's such a beautiful place.

We were barely greeted when we checked in: no smile, no introduction, no welcome. The hotel is charming - historic. It's location (on Nicollet Island) is lovely. There are great biking/walking paths all around the island along the river. There are a couple restaurants nearby, but we chose to drive to find more selection. The prices at the Inn's restaurant were more than we wanted to pay. Our room was TINY, overlooking the parking lot. It was clean, and that's the best thing I can say about it. We love the quaint exterior and the flowers in window boxes, but we could have had the exterior view for FREE! This was not worth the money we paid for a room.

We enjoyed our time at the Nicollet Island Inn. The building is charming and the location nice. We particularly enjoyed the excellent service and breakfasts at the Inn. Our room was also nice. We did have difficulty with Internet connectivity.

I really wanted to love this inn. The location and the outside appearance are full of promise, but once you get inside the rooms, the charm fades rapidly. The chairs and accent pillows were stained. The end tables were chipped and wobbly. And the windows were so filthy we couldn't even enjoy our river view. The guests in the room next door had an infant, which we could hear crying. Worse than that, though, was the plastic bag full of dirty diapers that they placed in a plastic bag outside their door--and which remained there until maid service the next day. Ick. The restaurant is ridiculously expensive for the quality when you compare it to other nearby restaurants and the service is disappointing. Sadly, I feel that the time for Nicollet Island Inn has passed--unless new owners give this much-deserved location a strong shot in the arm.
