“I strongly recommend Wales House to anyone who's visiting Minneapolis! :)”

My story for staying at Wales House might be a bit different from other previous travellers - it's quite a long story. I'm currently a PhD student at UMN, and I actually live quite close to Wales House. My apartment had serious noise problem that is not taken care of properly, therefore I had to seek for a quiet and nice place to stay over weekends, so that I could study hard and do my research without disturbance and had some good sleep . Through a friend's referral, I found Wales House, and tons of thanks to Kelly and Julie's hospitality to help accomodate me, otherwise I would be unable to get through my stressful spring semester. Wales House is very quiet inside, and it's located in a quiet neighborhood as well. You'll feel very much at home when you stay here, and the kitchen downstairs makes cooking for self easy and convenient. And the price is fairly reasonable, too - compared to the nearby hotels on campus, this is definitely the best place that would save you lots of money, especially if you plan to stay longer! One last comment that is for visiting scholars or international graduate students who are coming back to Minneapolis for final defense - do choose Wales House, since I promise you'll be able to do your work very productively here - Wales House has a very special "scholastic" atmosphere. And I for one will definitely be back again in the future! :)

“Expect the unexpectedly good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

If you are looking for a place to stay while you visit Minneapolis, look no further. The coziness of the victorian-styled Wales house makes you feel in a place similar to home. Very nice and attentive administration. Also breakfast is extra yummy.

“A nice guesthouse at a good price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

The Wales House is a nice guesthouse that offers a quite and comfortable stay for a very reasonable price! My partner and I were only there for a weekend, but many we met here were staying for weeks or months. The owners offered to help us with luggage, showed the house and our room. He also was willing to answer any questions we had about the house or the area, but for the most part the Wales House is set up in a way that you take care of yourself (which is exactly what we were looking for). Breakfast is continental with bread, fruits, granola, cereal, milk, juice, coffee and tea available. There is plenty of refrigerator and cubboard space for each room, so you can bring your own food, too. We didn't cook during our stay, but there is a nice sized fully equiped kitchen available to do so. The room we stayed in had a private bathroom with a shower (I did wish for a tub), a queen bed, hanging space, a dresser, a desk with a telephone and answering machine. The driveway and (free)parking was plowed, the sidewalks shoveled. It is listed as a B&B on tripadvisor, but is more of a guest house (which is stated on the website and the owners will tell you on the phone).

“Excellent, superb value B&B”

Stayed at the Wales House for a week during a conference in May 07 - a very pleasant change from downtown. The location is excellent (on a good bus route and near lots of bars and restaurants in Dinkytown), the place is very clean, the service is good and the price is superb. The only thing the owners ask is that you take your shoes off when you walk in. Fine with me. I would definitely stay there again.
