“A vast improvement but aways to go.”

Mrs. B's has a huge history and the last time that we stayed there around 2000 it was in poor repair. There have been 2 different owners since then and the current owners have turned this beautiful inn around by restoring it to it's former self. And it needed it badly.
The breakfasts are very good and fresh. Terry and Ginger, the owners are very nice and do spend some time with you.
There are drawbacks however. The room that we had was nicely painted and furnished . The bed linens were nice however the mattress was in desperate need of being replaced. Not only did it sag to the middle but also from top to both. The other couple traveling with us had the same complaint. Also while I don't mind reusing my towels for a couple of days, I expect the wastebaskets to be emptied on a daily basis and they were not. Also we were only given a complexion bar of soap, none for the shower. The complexion bar was gone in 2 days and then not replaced. The other couple didn't even have that bar of soap upon check in and had to ask for a bar of soap. I no longer travel with a hairdryer as all of the places nowadays have them in the room even in very small village inns in foreign countries. The rooms at Mrs. B's did not furnish one but I had to ask for one which was gladly loaned to me.

“Our favorite kind of B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

My husband and I returned to Mrs. B's for a two day get-away this week. Lanesboro is quiet mid-week, which is what we were looking for, along with the opportunity to simply relax and walk the famed Root River trail. Mrs. B's has it all: downtown location (walk anywhere), lovely historically interesting building; comfy, clean, updated rooms with private bath (ours was River Song, which overlooks the Asian-themed garden and river behind); delicious gourmet breakfasts, and delightful hosts. The inn has a spacious living room where you can read, sip coffee, and munch on home made cookies. We enjoyed a fine dinner at the nearby Village Inn restaurant, followed by an excellent play across the street at the Commonweal Theater. All in all, it was a perfect mini-retreat!

“Lanesboro unique”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

We enjoyed our visit to Lanesboro and this B & B was a very good choice. Clean, friendly and helpfull. Lanesboro has great bike trails, Amish tours, tubeing and good places to eat.
We are from Canada and my partner had a few days off from treatment at Mayo and Lanesboro is a short drive from Rochester and well worth the trip..

“Perfect weekend escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

A weekend at Mrs. B's was one of the brightest highlights of my short but ever enjoyable vacation to Minnesota. Terry and Ginger are warm, gracious hosts who pay acute attention to every detail of their Inn and their guests' experience. Our room was clean, cozy, and oh so relaxing that I was quite tempted to simply stay inside the whole time, but two other gems of this Inn were alluring enough to make me change my mind: the garden and breakfast. The beautiful garden in the back exhibits the same level of care and attention as the Inn itself. I spent the entire evening perched on a bench along the bank painting the beautiful scenery around me, all the while my boyfriend was equally content and relaxed fishing the river below. We couldn't have asked for a better setting for both of us to thoroughly enjoy our favorite hobbies. Our stay was topped off with breakfast the next morning. Ginger is a wonderful chef who whipped up the best french toast I've had in ages, accompanied by bacon and fresh fruit including pineapple so sweet that it screamed Hawaii. Having grown up in Hawaii I can say with confidence that Terry and Ginger share the Aloha spirit with their guests, even if they're in Lanesboro, MN! I'd love to stay at Mrs. B's again, but hopefully for a little longer next time.

“Great spot for a fly fishing weekend, romantic setting, very peaceful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

Girlfriend and I decided to head down to SE Minn. for the weekend - fly fishing for me, painting for her, hiking and relaxing for the both of us. Chose Mrs B's on the advice of my local fly shop in Lake Elmo - the guy's NEVER given me bad advice. Location was ideal for an angler - Terry and Ginger have made a really good use of the sloped bank by landscaping a tiered garden, very zen, very peaceful, all the way down to the Root Riv. Was able to walk straight down from our room and start wading right there in front of the property. My girl had a very private and yet open spot to paint and relax as I fished. The room seemed clean, well put-together - very sweet. Our room was the only one that opened up onto the deck, which made it excellent both for relaxing at night and for walking right up to our room to take all my gear off. The breakfast was pretty amazing - French Toast a la Grand Marnier, fresh fruit, and most importantly, good coffee. We enjoyed chatting with the owners over breakfast - they're extremely interesting people and you can tell they're good folks...easy going, very helpful, genuinely kind. Most importantly, the place felt very secure as the front door was kept locked during all but check in times. (Not that Lanesboro is a dangerous place). It just felt very safe and private. The place not only had easy access to the stream, but also to the Root Riv State trail, and was central in the town. Enjoyed the decor - interesting mix of the bluff-country limestone exterior, the Victorian interior and the Hawaiian/Buddhist type influences they brought back from living in Hawaii. Not the typical SE Minnesota scene, but it works real well in creating a peaceful laid back atmosphere. This is the first time we've stayed in Lanesboro, so I have no point of comparison with the other B&B's, of which I've heard good things as well. But based on our stay this past weekend, and as a fly fisher, I can't think of a reason why I wouldn't choose this place the next time I head to SE. I've already taken my seal of approval back to my fly shop and will be steering other people headed to SE Mrs B's way. Trust me - stay here. Terry and Ginger work hard at what they do, they do it well, and we think you'll enjoy yourselves.

Room Tip: Room 9 has the private deck acccess.
